Senior Project Surveyor, Abu Dhabi

Job Summary

The SQS position is the most senior AECOM position on the Project and each SQS will be expected to run the commercial aspects of the Project. The SQS is a client-facing staff member. The candidate should be able to support the Client at package level with an excellent level of cost, contractual and commercial advice as well as successfully leading post-contract Quantity Surveyor on a project of considerable size. The candidate will also be responsible for managing the internal costs at package level and for ensuring a profitable outcome for AECOM.
Duties & Responsibilities

Post Contract – Full responsibility for:

Managing the Project for monitoring the Contractor’s cost control procedures throughout the duration the Construction Phase, Final Account and Defects Maintenance Phase.

Leading, implementing and maintaining all required cost control and audit procedures for all Project Cost Control and Change Management activities designed to measure the project status and reporting of the same to the Client.

The assessment, evaluating and making recommendations related to any financial claim and providing the necessary input with regards to settling such claims.

Establishing and maintaining variations and claims registers.

Evaluation of all variations, additional works, field changes, additions and omission, and incorporation of the same with the Monthly Cost Reports.

preparing and pricing Change Orders and negotiating agreement with the Client and Contractor as necessary.

Conducting viability studies and cost estimates.

Agree Final Accounts with both the Client and Contractors.

Internal reporting, internal cost control and profitability of the package to the Associate Director.

Minimum Requirements

Specific skills required

Proven leader in Post-Contract situation

Client facing with proven ability to influence and manage government & private clients in a pro-active way

In depth knowledge of contracts and contract law

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

High level of literacy skills in English, both verbal and written

Excellent working knowledge of industry practices

High level ability with AECOM internal reporting systems would be preferred.

Person Specification (Personality Attributes)

Leader who inspires confidence in Clients and staff alike.

Ability to motivate an internationally sourced team of cost consultants in a professional and constructive manner.

Flexibility in approach and attitude.


The candidate is expected to have 10 years’ experience of major construction projects, five of which should be in Industrial Projects.

Experience of working for Middle East clients and contractors would be desirable.

Preferred Qualifications


Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying.

Membership of RICS, (or internationally recognised equivalent Institution).
