Job Summary

Our Scottish Transportation business line is seeking a Senior Engineer/Consultant to join the Development Planning and Engineering group based in Scotland. This group of specialist staff are based in offices across Scotland including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen and the base for this vacancy is negotiable. We would also consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns. The successful candidate would join the team with a focus on project delivery.

Our wide range of clients are primarily from the private sector in the UK and overseas and include developers, land owners, house builders, blue chip companies, universities, local authorities and contractors. The teams also work on a number of multi-disciplinary projects as part of a wider team with their colleagues in AECOM.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage small - mid-size project teams of discipline led engineers

• Provides specialised technical input to studies and design

• Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost effective work by others

• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables

• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects

• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings

• Prepares technical specification sections

• Provides input to the development of the engineering budget and schedule and oversees technical resources to meet requirements

• Contribute to the development of technical proposals

Minimum Requirements

• Knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques and procedures.

• Ability to communicate internally and externally through written and verbal means.

• Knowledge of the design and how it ultimately interfaces with the client.

• Understanding of design principles and ability to practically apply them.

• Excellent communicator (both written and verbal) with strong negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Civil &/or Transportation Engineering.

• Membership of a relevant professional body
