Job Summary

Aecom are currently recruiting for a Senior or Principal Mechanical Enginee r to join the London office of the Building Services team. Working on offices, residential, data centres, UK University Buildings, Arts, as well as international projects.

About the role:

A Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved all aspects of building environmental engineering including sketches, design, specifications and drawing production. The successful candidate will be working towards chartership, and have proven design experience, delivering to quality, time and budget. This role will suit someone with a mechanical engineering / building services degree, who is enthusiastic, self motivated, and looking to advance their career.

About the office:

Situated in our brand new office space in Aldgate Tower the offices spans 3 floors of brand new, state of the art commercial space (which Aecom undertook the designs for, naturally). We house over 900 staff in our Aldgate Tower office across multiple business units including; Buildings & Places, Transport, Bridges, Civil and Infrastructure and Resources & Industry.

About the team:

Our building services team consists of 400 people nationwide. The mechanical and electrical engineers we have in our team specialise in healthcare, education, sports, and leisure. We are market leaders on large international projects, as well as working closely with the local community.

Job Responsibilities:

Undertake the control of all production aspects of the projects in the office.

Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants for the design to proceed.

Ensure compliance with all Statutory and Regulatory obligations, make submissions to the Statutory Authorities and obtain approvals as necessary.

Ensure the Design Team is kept fully informed of all technical and other information necessary for the duration of the project.

Produce all design information, and ensure that all calculations are prepared and signed off in accordance with the requirements of the IMS, relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.

Represent AECOM at Client, Design Team and Progress meetings throughout the design and construction phases of projects.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to work accurately, independently and efficiently, and to take ownership of projects.

Be an effective communicator and team worker.

Be proactive about self development, ideally being close to achieving Chartered Engineer status.

Ability to assist in the management of tasks for junior and trainee engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree educated in mechanical engineering, building services, or similar / related discipline.
