In December 2012 a Joint Venture of Arup and Morgan Sindall Group was appointed as the delivery partner to Sellafield Ltd for their Infrastructure Strategic Alliance (ISA). Our role is to prioritise, plan, programme, manage and deliver a range of non-nuclear essential infrastructure services including all utilities, transport and supporting buildings. The contract will run for up to 15 years and is expected to generate revenue to our Joint Venture of between £1bn and £1.5bn. We are continuing to build our core team of highly-skilled specialists, based in West Cumbria and co-located with our partners.

We are looking to fill a number of roles within the ISA including Responsible Engineer (RE), Lead Engineers, Engineers and Designers across the range of disciplines (Civil/Structural, Electrical, Mechanical and Process) . The RE is responsible for the technical delivery of their discipline. The RE will lead the team of engineers (Lead, Engineer and Designers) in the definition, implementation and delivery of specified projects that achieves the safety, functional and business requirements of the client.

Role

Working very closely with the ISA Design Team you will be responsible for understanding and assisting in the delivery of an integrated programme of works: in particular, you will provide technical support related to your engineering discipline e.g. feasibility studies, investigations, dealing with technical queries, project technical inputs and long-term technical requirements. A necessary part of the role will be to interface with the Sellafield engineering discipline to understand needs and develop a strong working relationship. Your technical input and assurance will result in the successful and timely execution of projects, including: Electrical distribution, large-scale steam-generation and distribution, complex boiler projects, commercial building, heating/ventilation, robotic flask maintenance, CHP and water systems.

It is essential that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be a key technical ambassador for Arup on the ISA Programme, working closely with our client as well as the wider engineering community. You will be a self-motivated, proactive, realistic and collaborative individual that strives to deliver solutions of the highest quality and exhibits an excellent attention to detail: your actions should inspire confidence in clients, partners and peers alike.

Requirements
A demonstrable track record of engineering processes to achieve delivery within an multi discipline engineering role/environment, including technical definition, implementation and delivery of engineering work packages.
Significant demonstrable expertise in one or more relevant specific specialist areas within your field of engineering.
Ability to think outside the specialism and integrate multidisciplinary requirements into holistic coordinated solutions
Good planning, organizational and time management skills to achieve successful designs to programme and budget
Experience of working within a regulated and quality assured system in a capacity where both other staff and key decisions are reliant upon your professional engineering judgment and where design and guiding other technical personnel was a major part of the role.
Experience of working in roles where knowledge of engineering was a key attribute.
Experience within the utilities sector (knowledge of Sellafield Ltd considered an asset).
Demonstrate an active CPD record
Experience of working within a regulated and quality assured system
Experience of working in civil and multi-discipline engineering roles in infrastructure, building or process industries.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, processes and procedures appropriate to the sector
Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build strong and honest relationships with clients and peers while retaining a collaborative approach to working.

Qualifications:
Chartered status through ICE, CIWEM or other relevant body and degree qualified

Flexible working:

Based in our co-located offices in Whitehaven or Risley (Warrington). However, as Sellafield is a working site it is expected that you will spend a portion of your time n Cumbria as required by the projects, with travel to other offices as required.
