The role:

This role provides a specialist technical resource which is required to cover and support all Diageo D&M areas and plants, which will include working directly with and travelling to our sites. The role will be based in Blackrange or Cameronbridge to cover our malt maturation sites in the south of Scotland. In relation to this, Diageo recognise the importance of a work life balance and we promote the encouragement of flexible working as a benefit for our employees. This role will work alongside a counterpart role covering D&M malt distilling East and West of Scotland.

Ensuring that all sites are electrically compliant in accordance with Diageo Global Technical standards, this would include managing compliance in the following areas: Electrical legislation compliance, HV/LV safety critical, functional safety (SIL) DSEAR and hazardous area inspections, machinery safety (PUWER), and lightning protection.

You will also be responsible for:


Providing solutions to comply with electrical legislation and ensure that sites can demonstrate and maintain compliance.
Directly managing external electrical compliance service and inspection contracts. Supporting sites in the completion of remedial actions following service and inspection visits.

Ensuring essential safety related maintenance is undertaken and delivered for HV and LV switchgear and lightning protection systems across all D&M sites.
Assist in developing standardised engineering strategies for electrical functional safety across D&M.

Ensure compliance with Engineering SFIP’s and PUWER risk assessments for Grain Distilling and Maturation South sites are maintained, reviewed and delivered for new equipment on sites.

Responsible for the leadership and co-ordination of technicians / craft to ensure electrical inspection isolations and remedial works are undertaken.
To do this you will be required to:

Be responsible in delivering engineering assessments at sites and validation of core competence of third parties for legal engineering compliance areas within the purpose and scope.


Assist in developing engineering strategies for electrical and process control within Diageo D&M and Engineering Site Scorecards monitoring.

Assist in delivering capital expenditure projects relating to safety compliance for new equipment purchases.

Drive the engineering GRMS / SFIP areas with support, detailed knowledge and influencing skills for functional compliance.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Degree level in Electrical & Process Control Engineering or similar with minimum of 3 years relevant experience or HNC level in Electrical & Process Control engineering or similar with at least 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH).
Full UK clean driving licence.
Firm understanding of Legal requirements such as Electrical Safety, COMAH, PUWER, Machinery Safety, Functional Safety(SIL), DSEAR, HV / LV and hazardous area working.
