Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Role Purpose

Responsible for completing daily technical assignments required to support multiple project team assignments and objectives. Independently evaluate, select and apply standard and non-standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in making adaptations and modifications to support team objectives. Participate in dialogue regarding specific and detailed technical objectives, including the preparation of oral and written reports.

Key Responsibilities

--Aluminum forming, surface treatment and heat treatment development, new product quotes, tool fabrication quotes, first article development, configuration changes that involve cost estimation, computer numerical control programming for machining and forming applications, schedule coordination and process implementation.
--Responsible for ensuring formed parts or tools are in line with GKN and customer supplied quality assurance standards. Work with vendors to track and resolve schedule and quality issues.
--Schedule the transition of tools from design through change control to verify tooling functionality and suitability, production part quality and tool delivery schedule.
--Continuous process improvement via work instructions, statistical process control (SPC), engineering process changes and tooling design orders.
--Maintain positive teaming relationship with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
--Provide leadership to a project team as assigned, as well as mentor/lead other engineers.
--Create, direct, implement and monitor project budgets and schedules to meet required commitment dates and goals.
--Responsible for multiple projects (with associated tasks) that utilize specific knowledge and engineering principles to develop designs and robust manufacturing processes within a well defined time span.
--Assist in the development and maintenance of a corporate culture, which supports the Company's overall business objectives and goals, by providing leadership in issues that involve “Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Inventory”.
--Provides leadership and direction with emphasis on team building.
--Ensure the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations.
--Fully comply with the "GKN Aerospace, Inc. Policy Statement on Contracting with the United States Government" in all areas of responsibility involving direct and indirect contracting with the United States Government. Ensure that any subordinate staff is aware of the policy and their individual responsibility and accountability for complying with it.
--Administer and comply with the Company's human resources policies and procedures to provide fair and equitable treatment for all employees while ensuring optimum productivity and resource utilization.
--Apply the Company's Diversity Policy to all personnel actions and implement effective affirmative action to ensure attainment of the company's Diversity goals.
--All other duties as requires.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills

--B.S. degree in Engineering or related discipline.
--10+ years of manufacturing experience, including experience in aerospace industry.

--Understanding of business processes and procedures.
--Experience leading engineering teams/groups and projects, as well as coaching/mentoring other engineers.
--A proven self-starter requiring little supervision.
--Demonstrated leadership qualities.
--Experience in quality management, processes and systems.
--Exposure to one or more of the following: heat treating, chemical processing, sheet metal.
