In December 2012 a Joint Venture of Arup and Morgan Sindall Group was appointed as the delivery partner to Sellafield Ltd for their Infrastructure Strategic Alliance (ISA). Our role is to prioritise, plan, programme, manage and deliver a range of non-nuclear essential infrastructure services including all utilities, transport and supporting buildings. The contract will run for up to 15 years and is expected to generate revenue to our Joint Venture of between £1bn and £1.5bn. We are continuing to build our core team of highly-skilled specialists, based in West Cumbria and co-located with our partners. This is an excellent career growth opportunity for right individual to develop technical and management skills.

We are looking to fill a number of roles within the ISA including Responsible Engineer (RE), Lead Engineers, Engineers and Designers across the range of disciplines (Civil/Structural, Electrical, Mechanical and Process) .

Reporting to the Team Leader you will be an integral member within this close-knit, multi-disciplinary core team that interacts with the wider team of over 50 staff. As part of the Arup ISA core team, your expertise will be integral in ensuring the success of the program by advising, scoping, and planning smart in order to deliver lean while retaining technical excellence in our front end engineering services.

Role

Working very closely with the ISA Design Team you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of an integrated programme of works: in particular, you will provide technical support to the engineering disciplines on a range of activities i.e. feasibility studies, investigations, project technical inputs and long-term technical requirements. Your technical input e will assist in the successful and timely execution of projects, including: Electrical distribution, large-scale steam-generation and distribution, complex boiler projects, commercial building, heating/ventilation, robotic flask maintenance, CHP and water systems.

While the provision of engineering support is a key part of your role, it is expected that your involvement will be varied including input and support in to: studies for future planning, preparation of contract documentation, client meetings, ‘fast response’ emergent work delivery, attending multi-disciplinary meetings, providing a ‘point of contact’ service to the client for technical queries and even scheduling projects where needed.

It is essential that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be a key technical ambassador for Arup on the ISA Programme, working closely with our client as well as the wider engineering community. You will be a self-motivated, proactive, realistic and collaborative individual that strives to deliver solutions of the highest quality and exhibits an excellent attention to detail: your actions should inspire confidence in clients, partners and peers alike.

Requirements

1. Manage CAD production:
·Manage staff and group workload
·Liaise with relevant leaders to establish resourcing needs
·Be involved in recruitment and activities including skills evaluation
·Implement and monitor Arup and project CAD standards
·Identify training needs and implement courses
·Check sample output for compliance with CAD/QA requirements
2. Liase with CAD Managers, relevant Skills Network and 3rd Parties (i.e, Clients, Consultants and Contractors)
3. Represent CAD at group management meetings
4. Provide focus of expertise which includes:
·Answering CAD enquiries
·Instructing staff in CAD as appropriate
5. Provide feedback to CAD development team and skills networks to maximise benefits to the group and firm.

The role holder will be required to obtain the following clearances:
·Basic Clearance

·P4 Pass

·Scottish Disclosure

Flexible Working:

Based in our co-located offices in Whitehaven or Risley (Warrington). However, as Sellafield is a working site it is expected that you will spend a portion of your time n Cumbria as required by the projects, with travel to other offices as required.
