Test Technician

Role Purpose
Conduct rig based testing for Driveshafts’ products. Test component designs in support of the A-C phases of New Product Development as well as Application Engineering and Phase D improvement programs. Ensure accurate test execution & interpretation of test results through coordinated efforts with Test Engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities
· The safe and accurate set up, programming and operation of all test rigs and supporting equipment, in line with the departmental rig plans to achieve and improve the departmental KPI targets.

· The routine inspection of tests in progress, including visual assessments, recording data as required to ensure tests run within set parameters. This also includes replacement of components or assemblies, recording and reporting problems that may occur and participation in problem solving activities.

· Sideshaft, propshaft, prototype and boot pre-test and post test preparation (assembly/disassembly) and inspection including evaluation and grading of test components, including photography if required.

· Control the storage and repair of rig adaptors and of tested parts.

· Routine maintenance via TPM of all test rigs and supporting equipment in conjunction with the Test Facility Technical Specialist plans.

· Support and implement the Set up and calibration of test control equipment and support rig calibration.

· Preparation of test data outputs from rig tests for inclusion in technical reports.

· Fabricate and install mounting hardware for transducers, speed pick-ups, electronic equipment and rig adaptors where necessary.

· Implement hydraulic and pneumatic modifications as needed.

· Support Physical Test and Analysis (PTA) working practices to optimise test rig utilisation, through put and provide company specified metrics.

· Support other PTA and Driveline activities as required.

· Attend PVD board sessions and ensure cross shift communications are fully maintained and developed.

· Ensure respective area meets safety and house-keeping guidelines, including 5s, Thinksafe and COSHH.

· Input data into the PTE system in an accurate and timely manner to ensure accuracy of final test report and up to date recording of workflow.
