Job Summary

Create, maintain and revise various schedules using primarily Primavera P6 Project Management software in order to review and analyse Baseline Schedule, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and critical path. Ability to summarise detailed project level schedules and integrate into overall Project Master Schedule

Position involves assisting with the review of schedules, analysis of baseline schedule and schedule updates, monitoring of schedule delays, tracking of contract changes, analysis of time extension requests, analysis of stage changes, analysis of value engineering impacts and analysis of claims under the direction of Project Managers. May act as the responsible scheduling representative on several projects.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but not limited to the following:

Create, review, analyse, monitor and report progress of updated progress schedules and forecasts, resource histograms and critical production outputs for regular reporting.

Earned Value Management

Maintains Project (Integrated) Master Schedule and performs critical path analysis.

Creates progress reports against the schedule.

Analyses external progress reports against the schedule.

Performs special analysis for resource loading and performance progress.

Provides summary level dashboards and/or other special reports to management to support informed decision making and effective management of the program.

Develops and maintains progress metrics of the key contractor performance indicators.

Tracks the contractors procurement schedule to ensure consistency with the Project master Schedule.

Analyses drawings, specifications and statements of work in the preparation of activity networks for project resource planning and scheduling.

Maintains communication with site supervision staff to verify schedule progress and productivity of the contractors schedule.

Provides basic support in the areas of project controls, scheduling, scheduling analysis, earned value management, claim analysis and construction activities in support of projects.

Provides basic baseline target schedules, fiscal year schedules, and program schedules.

Provides basic analysis to determine impacts on the program schedule.

Provides oversight and incorporates contract schedules into the master schedule.

Analyses basic project planning and schedule updates and delays.

Prepare basic reports (i.e. monthly status).

Resolves basic scheduling conflicts.

Provides support to upper level Schedulers.

Ability to cost load schedules.

Implements and follows the Company Quality Management System procedures.

Minimum Requirements


Minimum 5 years (Clearly identifiable) planning/programming/scheduling experience.

Must have contactable references

Specific Skills required:

5+ years in a planning role.

Expert working knowledge of Primavera Project Planner (P6 v8.3).

Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Project (2013).

Strong computer skills (Excel/Word).

Hands on knowledge of WBS coding structure.

Hands on Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVMS).

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Good analytical skills.

Ability to set priorities and meet critical time deadlines.

Must be able to liaise with project teams and contractor’s staff.

Personality Attributes:

Ability to communicate effectively and constructively in a multi discipline contractual environment.

Ability to maintain composure under intense deadline driven environment.

Ability to multi-task.

Planning/programming/scheduling experience on at least 5 complex building projects/programs with capital value in excess of R 100m.

Able to produce programmes/schedules for complex buildings from limited design information.

Excellent market knowledge of production rates for labour, steel, concrete, MEP and finishes.

Conversant with multiple forms of contract.

Ability to present to the client and chair meetings.

Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines within a team environment.

Proactive work style and able to work unaided.

Excellent written and oral English, able to effectively communicate complex information.

Additional Comments:

Must be willing to undertake a computer based skills assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Proficient/ Expert in use of Microsoft Project and Primavera V6.7 (and future versions).
