The Caledonia Water Alliance is a partnership between AECOM and Morrison Utility Services to support the delivery of £360 million of capital investment on behalf of Scottish Water over the next six years. CWA services consist of programme management, design, rehabilitation and construction of pipeline and distribution network projects across Scotland.

In line with the growth of CWA we are actively looking to expand the team with the addition of a CAD Technician to manage designs and design teams and to deliver potable water pipeline projects including all associated civil engineering inputs.

Based in Stepps, Glasgow, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver the CAD design outputs to support the team to deliver the detailed designs of potable water mains and networks for a challenging framework of projects.

As CAD Technician you will have the following responsibilities:

Prepare design information for preliminary design

Prepare design information for detailed design

Liaise with construction team regarding setting out information

Prepare schedules

Review construction details and designs

Ensure that designs and drawings is done according to the internal QA system

Liaise with PMs, design lead from M&E team and modelling team to collaborate designs and eliminate any clashes.

Development of 3D design model in AutoCAD Civil 3D in a collaborative environment through Project Wise.

Update design reports according to final design solution

Design each project to ensure construction and management risks are eliminated completely or reduces to an acceptable level.

Minimum Requirements

Experience with 3D software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and/ or Revit is desirable, comprising also the application of project collaboration platforms.

Conversant with Microsoft applications; Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Experience in all or some of the design development for water networks, trunk mains and pipeline schemes would be desirable.

Experience using Project Wise (preferred but not required).

Proven skills to successfully control and manage workload and the implementation of company and project CAD standards and drawing document procedures.

Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key people both internally and externally.

Ability to work on own initiative as an experienced CAD operator, in conjunction with civil and structural design engineers.

Experience of water based civil engineering projects.

Ability to produce accurate drawings and details for water related projects.

An understanding of industry standards.
