Job Summary

AECOM are currently looking to recruit a Coastal Engineer for the office based in Dubai.

The responsibilities of this role will be to;

Make a significant contribution to the sales, profitability and management of work and people in the Ports & Marine Group.

Develop the Coastal Engineering discipline to enable AECOM to be a leader in the Middle East region.

Contribute to the Coastal Team as part of the Ports & Marine Group.

Skills – Develop and retain a high level of technical skill.

Technical – provide leadership to the technical delivery of projects and carry out technical tasks as required.

Quality – Ensure the relevant QA procedures are followed.

Safety – Ensure that all activities are performed in a safe manner and take a lead role in the management of OH&S issues for staff and projects in accordance with AECOM M.E. OH&S requirements.

Project Delivery – Coordinate the work of project teams with other engineering disciplines through liaison with other professionals. Monitor the work of staff allocated to specific projects to ensure that technical competence and performance meets the requirements of allocated projects. Ensure that all projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Clients – Achieve an established client base in the Middle East market. Maintain harmonious client relationships as the project and local market level.

Continuous Improvement – A commitment to continual professional development. A commitment to continual learning on relevant technological business and human relationship matters.

Business Growth – Assist the Ports & Marine Group Leader to deliver the growth, diversification and stability targets set out in the regional strategic plan.

Particular skills to include:

Design of coastal protection systems such as breakwaters, dune reinforcement, revetments, artificial reefs and harbour layouts.

Experience in numerical and physical modelling, including wave transformation, coastal hydrodynamics, harbour disturbances.

Hydraulic performances and stability of breakwaters.

Ship motion studies.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in coastal engineering discipline

Project management experience will be an added advantage

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Excellent knowledge on numerical modelling including waves, hydrodynamic, shoreline modelling and capable of coordinate with modelling teams in different locations

Demonstrated commercial acumen, customer focus and business analysis skills

Ability to undertake complex coastal engineering tasks

Expertise in coastal and marine engineering

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Engineering

Higher level degree (M.Sc or P.hD desirable)
