Project Manager

The AMRC is seeking a Project Manager, a key role within an integrated project team, ensuring that each project is run in accordance with the Nuclear AMRCs Life Cycle Management (LCM) systems and Quality Management requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues and engineers working on a variety of projects within the high value manufacturing sector. The projects will come from a variety of sources and be at different Technology Readiness Levels (TRL). Responsibilities will include ensuring projects meet the required objectives and are delivered within agreed timescales, project management and regular communications with staff and partner companies. You will demonstrate a high level of knowledge and experience in Project Management methodologies and have significant Commercial experience such as estimating project costs and the procurement of project critical requirements. As the focal point for the project team, you will co-ordinate resources and equipment loading to ensure that customer objectives are met and delivered on time.

You will be customer focussed being the face of the team when dealing with clients throughout the project lifecycle. You will also involve the scoping of projects with many different partners and through different funding streams, with the planning of these projects being a major part of your role, including creation of documentation and financial forecasting. You will also be expected to ensure the effective use of all allocated resources, along with the delivery of value of money to project partners. You should ideally have experience of managing projects within a research environment or the Nuclear sector, along with a proven track record of promoting excellence within a team. Essential requirements for this role include; a good honours degree in Business Administration (or equivalent experience) or a good honours Engineering Degree with appropriate Project Management experience. You must also demonstrate a high competency in using Microsoft project, excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the on-time, on-budget delivery of research and development projects in accordance with the Centre’s Quality Management System.
• Initial project planning, including estimation of timescales and resources required to achieve client deliverables.
• Monitor and manage project resources and costs and report progress against project budgets as required. Job Description Job Role
• Review project progress against overall plans and report any areas of concern to the appropriate management.
• Identify the need for any remedial actions in order to ensure project deliverables are met. Initiate, or escalate the need for, such actions as appropriate. This could for example include negotiating for additional resource as necessary.
• Provide regular progress reports for each project in accordance with client requirements. Review project progress against overall plans and report any areas of concern to the appropriate management.
• Monitor and maintain Health and Safety project documentation and conformance documentation. • Schedule equipment usage to ensure best utilisation of available resources.
• Support technical reviews with Nuclear AMRC staff and Project Stakeholders.
• Liaise with Nuclear AMRC members and equipment suppliers to ensure best practices are being adhered to.
• Communicate Nuclear AMRC best practice.

Qualifications and experience
1. A good honours degree in Business Administration (or equivalent experience) or a good honours Engineering Degree with appropriate Project Management experience.
2. Knowledge in any of the following areas: milling, turning, cryogenic
machining, deep hole boring, metrology, photogrammetry, arc welding, power beam welding, powder metallurgy and non-destructive evaluation.
