Cutter Technician (1st Shift)

Role Purpose
Cutting Technician will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting equipment to maintain cutting operations and to bring to supervisors’ attention matters in a timely manner beyond operator control. Duties include plan, lay-out and operation of Lectra or Gerber Fabric cutting machine to meet scheduled production requirements. Under minimal direct supervision, follow general instructions, sketches, specifications, work orders, process and equipment work instructions. Use recognized methods to perform a variety of standard, generally repetitive, manufacturing activities involved in the cutting, organizing and kitting of cut material.

Key Responsibilities
Follow standard and non-standard operating procedures to cut and stack composite fabric;
Record all fabrication or machine operating parameters accurately and legibly on parts where required, routing sheets, resident operation sheets, department documentation or terminals to ensure recording completion of work-in-process, inventories, schedules, labor expenditures, and/or other documentation where required;
Ability to understand/operate and locate cutting files on the company network. General Computer skills are recommended for this job;
Capable of providing assistance to process problems, documenting issues effectively and following up on open issues;
Use simple inspection devices such as protractors, calipers, micrometers, tapes, gages, etc. to ensure quality of operation processes performed. Will be required to inspect and certify own work to establish standards.
Organize work areas, plan tasks with team, perform assigned work and meet or exceed cost, quality and schedule needs. Assure product quality;
Maintain a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with all internal, safety, environmental, customer and government regulations;
Occasionally provide guidance to others who might need cross-training as a Cutter where necessary;
Other assigned tasks as required

Qualifications / Experience / Skills

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
A minimum of 1 year of manufacturing/technical experience is preferred.
Experience in aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and components preferred.
Should have fine motor skills as some composite plies are very small and delicate;
Work well with others and be able to organize and contribute to a team;
Perform work to a defined plan and be capable of defining plans and organizing work area/tasks and people to meet that plan;
Manual dexterity and the ability to use various hand tools, shop and computer operated equipment.
Must have knowledge of shop mathematics, production methods, shop practices and be able to learn to read blue prints.
Potential to be cross-trained;


Must have a High School Diploma or GED, with the ability to verify in a timely manner when requested.

Physical Requirements

Specific Vision abilities required; including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus with a specific requirement for corrected vision at 20/25 or better;
Must be able to work in a production environment and travel throughout the facilities and corporation to obtain information needed to perform job functions;
Prolonged standing and have the ability to move around a manufacturing environment;
Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 lbs., using proper lifting techniques.
Ability to work overtime is a condition of employment.
