Materials Handler (2nd Shift)

Role Purpose
Material handlers play a crucial role in the support of GKN Aerospace’s day-to-day manufacturing operations by ensuring materials, supplies and tools are where they need to be to ensure timeliness. Responsibilities include moving supplies and materials from one area to another, loading items onto shelves and into ovens.

Key Responsibilities

Perform clerical duties to support production, materials, and manufacturing objectives.
Provide inventory control services that include the accurate and efficient processing of paperwork, data entry, delivery, and record keeping.
May be required to work non-standard hours and shifts to support Customer requirements.
Provide back-up support for other materials positions or duties as assigned.
Perform housekeeping duties to ensure a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
Organize workplace and activities to complete assignments under frequently changing priorities.
Unloading, moving and storing materials
Utilizing manual lifts, reach trucks and transfer equipment (requires applicable safety and operational training)
Storing and stacking materials according to company standards
Identifying and verifying parts
Reporting inventory shortages and recommending new orders
Removing damaged materials from stock
Expedite assigned parts and/or tools through the production process 'From Cradle To Grave'.
Operate Office Equipment (Computer, Copier, etc.), Manufacturing Equipment (Forklift, Press, etc.), Hand/power tools (Impact Wrench, Power Drill, etc.).
Identify problems and recommend solutions to improve our satisfaction of Customer needs and to reduce our costs.
May build or process parts as required
Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Experience in aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and components preferred.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and data base computer software (i.e. Word, Excel).
Good interpersonal and Communication Skills.

HS Diploma or GED needed. MUST be able to validate HS Diploma or GED prior to acceptance of an offer.
Physical Requirements:
Specific Vision abilities required; including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus with a specific requirement for corrected vision at 20/25 or better;
Must be able to work in a production environment and travel throughout the facilities and corporation to obtain information needed to perform job functions;
Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity;
Prolonged standing and have the ability to move around a manufacturing environment;
Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 lbs., using proper lifting techniques.
Ability to work overtime is a condition of employment.
