GKN Aerospace is a global first tier supplier of airframe and engine structures, components, assemblies and transparencies to a wide range of aircraft and engine prime contractors and other first tier suppliers. GKN Aerospace Cromwell was established in 2003. Our site specializes in the design and manufacture of composite assemblies for both military and commercial applications using innovative and cutting edge technologies.

Role Purpose

The Program Manager is the primary customer focal point for Program related activities. Integrates with appropriate customer disciplines and internal units across the organization, providing Program direction. Responsible for all performance metrics of the Program. Develops and manages product and information flow across the program matrix to achieve company and customer objectives. This role requires strong people leadership and resource management skills to deliver against performance objectives focused on customer satisfaction, profitability, continuous improvement, and people development. Enables day-to-day focus while leading the Program team. Maintains proper altitude in discussion and action, across all levels internally and with customer.

Key Responsibilities
Scope of Accountability

Accountable for operational results across the product line from raw material definition and reception through finished goods shipment.
Accountable for delivering to, and reporting, all KPI’s which drive the operation to perform and continuously improve.
Communicate Program level information to customer stakeholder organizations as required.
Champion the organization in continuous improvement activities for the Program. Work with functional leads to prioritize activities of the organization in support of KPI’s and budget.
Demonstrate the highest level of business integrity without compromise.
Quality

Key Performance Indicators: Scrap, DPU & Escapes
Champion continuous improvement plans to enable right first time performance.
Hold the organization accountable in achieving KPI goals and for RCCA closure.
Delivery

Key Performance Indicators: On time Starts/Completions & Delivery to Internal Operations Plan (IOP).
Drive the organization to achieve on time delivery to all external and internal targets.
Drive the organization to position for future rate readiness through capacity planning of people, machine, supplier and support functions.
Cost / Inventory

Key Performance Indicators: Cost Per Unit, Labor and related Operational costs.
Possesses sufficient knowledge of local operations to understand changes in performance and implement immediate countermeasures.
Key Performance Indicators: Total Inventory Value (Raw Material, WIP, MRB, FG), Stock Turns
Monitor and manage product line inventory levels to support the build plan.
Leadership

Key Communicator with the Program team. Communicate consistently and effectively to all functional representatives, external suppliers, management team and customers as appropriate. Provide appropriate feedback and escalation on a regular and as-needed basis.
Actively resolve issues using standard model of leadership behavior: setting expectations, coaching, recognition, constructive feedback, and escalation where appropriate.
Lead and sponsor improvement activities using lean methodology, tools, and techniques. Ensure that all team members have equal opportunity to contribute to improvement and identify training needs within the team.
Support individual evaluation via Personal Development Plans (PDPs) input.
Support PMRs and Operations Reviews as required and provide input status to the KPI’s presented

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Education
BS Engineering or Business preferred.

Essential
MUST BE U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in project management experience in an aerospace parts manufacturing environment.
Requires excellent customer relations skills including oral and written communications, presentations, negotiations and relationship development. Experience in aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and components preferred.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and data base computer software (i.e. Word, Excel).
Constructive questioning: good at identifying all the necessary criteria;
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills;
The ability to think beyond the boundaries and challenge the status-quo;
Have the ability to develop innovative and practical design solutions;
Able to critically analyze new and existing designs to generate cost reductions;
Have a meticulous approach to quality and familiarity with FMEAs/risk assessment;
