ABOUT DIAGEO

Diageo is the world’s leading premium drinks business, with iconic brands including Guinness, Smirnoff, Captain Morgan and Johnnie Walker.

Our people are at the heart of our business and we look to engage, develop and retain the very best talent for our world-class operations.

Diageo has a commitment to reduce our reliance on energy from fossil fuels and to improve the efficient use of natural resources. This role is integral in driving through a step change improvement for energy use and greenhouse gas emissions reduction at our Scottish Distilling sites.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Scotland is the home of Diageo’s diverse range of Scotch whiskies. In Scotland, ISC Distilling is responsible for producing over 30 million cases of Diageo’s Scotch whiskies such as Johnnie Walker, J&B and Bell’s every year. As well as Scotch, ISC Distilling produces 12 million cases of white spirits including Smirnoff vodka, Tanqueray gin and Gordon’s gin and over four million cases of other spirits and ready to drink brands. There are eight main warehousing sites, housing our maturing stocks of Scotch whisky, supported by a state of the art cooperage opened in 2011 and coppersmiths

The Energy Co-ordinator reports directly to the Environment Manager and works in a team of specialists based in various locations across Scotland. This role is based in the Elgin office and primarily supports the Malt Distilling side of the business although support may be required across all of Distillation and Maturation. This role ensures the business maintains compliance with climate change legislation and takes a lead on relevant reporting and data gathering to support this. Key to this is effective communication with regulatory authorities and representing Diageo on relevant internal and external energy and climate change forums.. The role holder will further take the lead on engaging our production sites and supporting our production engineers to look for energy efficiency improvements and opportunities to make effective use of renewable energy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your key responsibility will be the delivery and support of compliance with greenhouse gas reduction and renewable energy incentive schemes to maximise value to Diageo and drive our performance ambition. These schemes would include the EU Emissions Trading System, Climate Change Agreements, the Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme, Feed-In Tariff and the Renewable Heat Incentive. You will own data monitoring and reporting for these schemes as well as the Malt Distilling monthly energy KPI performance.

There is also the opportunity for technical involvement in our various processes, influencing site teams to drive energy efficiency improvements and deliver efficiency and renewable energy projects. This will require you to build meaningful relationships with site personnel and promote both the energy efficiency and compliance message

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE :

The ideal candidate will be educated to a degree level or equivalent and ideally have 3 years or more experience within a food and drink industry within a technical role. You will have professional Environmental qualification and/or prepared to work towards this. Most importantly we are looking for an individual with a passion for driving energy efficiency improvements and greenhouse gas reductions who is able to communicate this passion and influence others to deliver real results.
A driving licence is essential as you will be required to work across our various sites in D&M
