Purpose of the role:
Europe Demand Procurement delivers significant contribution towards Diageo Europe business, productivity and growth goals. The team is seeking to deliver year on year cost reduction and value creation to support operating margin improvement and competitive advantage. This is achieved through executing breakthrough category strategies, aggregation of spend, category knowledge and productivity efficiencies.

Scope of the team is Europe region: GB, Ireland, Continental Europe and Eastern Europe across Demand Customer Categories – POS, VAP and Print.

Reporting to the European Category Manager (Customer Marketing), this role will be part of the Customer Marketing Category team, working directly with other Category Specialists and Category Managers (reporting into the European Category Manager for Customer Marketing). The role has the responsibility to deliver the financial and non-financial targets by executing/developing the Global category strategies for the POS/ VAP and PRINT categories.

The core activities/deliverables of this role are:

Deliver the category programme(s) through great execution under the area of responsibility
Deliver excellence benefits through sourcing, demand management, supplier relationship management, contract management, supplier development and supplier innovation.
Drive value through ensuring the commercial elements of spend within the POS/ VAP/ PRINT categories are executed brilliantly with our Suppliers / Agency Partners
Deploy demand management techniques in order to avoid wastage and pursue best in class spend practices
Lead and implement ongoing supplier performance through the setting of rigorous performance KPI’s and SLA’s and through the application of a robust supplier review mechanism.
Support Global and Local Procurement Category teams with relevant market, insights, input and builds for category strategies
Lead local market sourcing and support global sourcing and supplier relationship management activity across the Create categories using Diageo Way of Category Management process & methodology.
Key interface with stakeholders ensuring full engagement to maximize commercial advantage, minimize risk and assuring quality of delivery and performance.
Work closely with finance and tactical procurement teams to ensure correct spend reports and deep dive analysis
Support and play an active role in ongoing supplier performance by providing active input to the setting of rigorous performance KPI’s and SLA’s through the application of a robust supplier review mechanism within a Total Contract Ownership approach.

Qualifications & Experience required:

Degree educated or equivalent relevant work experience
Sound level of Procurement or Marketing experience in an FMCG environment. Proven experience in key procurement skills including, negotiations, forecasting and benchmarking.
Experience of marketing production and packaging processes would be an advantage
Strong analytical skills, including forensic understanding of the cost drivers to target and influence costs through end-to-end value.
Commercial acumen, understanding of the business and judgment.
Ability to work in an agile, fast moving environment and ability to keep up with pace of change and prioritize according to business needs.
Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
