Summary:

Our cleaning staff play a major role in the smooth running of the University, ensuring that our staff and students receive a consistently high standard of service across the campus. We are always looking for people who want to make a difference and become part of a highly motivated team that is prepared to go the extra distance and takes pride in the important role they play.

We regularly need individuals with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our teams responsible for cleaning academic buildings across the University Campus administrative buildings.

We are looking for individuals with a flexible approach to work, a real commitment to customer service and to being part of a team. You will not require experience as full training will be provided. Details of the current available vacancies will be provided to all short-listed candidates.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean specified areas using the appropriate cleaning techniques, materials and equipment.

• Clean other areas as requested to cover for absent staff and respond to occasional cleaning requests from departmental staff.

• Use equipment correctly and safely in accordance with Health and Safety regulations. Clean equipment regularly and store away after use.

• Make requests for cleaning equipment and materials you may need.

• Report any cleaning equipment faults, damage or maintenance issues to the Cleaning Supervisor.

• Ensure the safekeeping of keys during your working hours. Turn off alarms and lock doors after cleaning as appropriate.

• Answer queries from students, staff and visitors in the building.

• Provide a thorough deep clean of specified areas according to business needs.

• Carry out cleaning tasks to guidelines, working to a cleaning schedule.

• Prioritise your own work and work around users of the building and ensure that you prioritise the areas which are used first.

• For each task, you will arrange and organise the relevant cleaning products and equipment needed and display safety signage.

• Any other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post.
