Senior Civil Engineer – Heavy Civils Design

Job Summary
We are currently looking to appoint an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to become part of Exeter office design team. We are seeking individuals that thrive on the technical challenge of heavy civil engineering projects and have experience in the following type of schemes: water treatment works, wastewater treatment works, attenuation shafts, below ground chambers and large infrastructure schemes. You will need to be used to working on mulit-disciplinary projects with structural, mechanical, process engineers and enjoy working as part of collaborative teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to join a highly skilled technical design team working on a varied and interesting project workload.

Minimum Requirements
Take the role as lead civil engineer (senior engineer grade) or work under a lead civil engineer (engineer grade) to deliver all civil engineering design and technical input for heavy civil engineering projects.
Have experience of the design process in feasibility, outline and detailed design stages. Be the design interface for the contractor and client in the construction phase.
Have relevant technical skills for the water industry - e.g. Open channel and pipeline hydraulics, civil and structural engineering design, interface with other engineering disciplines
Understanding of the application, benefits and limitations of a wide range of solutions to problems
Understanding of construction and operational requirements within design.
Take responsibility for delivering project work to programme, cost and quality requirements
Manage technicians to deliver high quality drawing outputs
Ability to liaise with client, contractor and the supply chain
Act as a buddy for graduate engineers to promote their technical and professional development
Value and contribute to a strong Health and Safety culture
Have an enthusiastic and collaborative approach to your work, demonstrating the relevant behaviours and work ethos to solve client and project problems
Ability to demonstrate the above through past experience

Preferred Qualifications
You will hold an accredited degree in Civil Engineering, or have a commensurate mix of experience and qualification
You will either be a Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer, or be working towards professional qualification.
You will have significant experience of the design of heavy civil engineering projects and the water industry
