Maintenance Engineer

Role Purpose
The jobholder is responsible for “The Planned Maintenance and Repair of all Production plant and machinery. Operate as a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer working as part of a team to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency of machine tool/plant breakdown, repairs, calibration, planned scheduled maintenance and all associated tasks, within the Maintenance Function in the new manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
To perform scheduled and breakdown maintenance on conventional CNC machine tools, Vacuum Pumps, Robotics, Ovens, Autoclaves and general manufacturing equipment along with maintaining Risk assessments, Method Statements and Safe System Of Work.


Machine tool/Plant

Maintaining machine tool axes including linear guides / rails, motors, gearboxes, lead screws,
bearings, encoders, pumps etc.
Maintaining machine guarding both internally and externally

Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems including counter balance circuits, hydraulic clamping, hydraulic motors, rams, cylinders

Checking and topping up various oils

Fault finding & diagnostics on complex Machine tools/plant

Machine alignments

Checking and correction of machine alignments, by clocking bars, datum holes and slip

gauges, laser alignments, ball bar tests

Correction by changing parameters in CNC control, testing with machine cuts/machine cycles, running diagnostic programs.

Electrical appreciation

Knowledge of machine tools electrically

Knowledge of machine parameters and diagnostics

Running calibration programs

Disconnecting pumps & motors

Resetting trip & fuses

CNC / PLC fault finding / diagnostics of the major PLC vendors such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Omron and Schneider Systems.

Good understanding of electrical process control hardware

Knowledge of electrical schematics to PLC software and user interface development. Machine testing and debugging.

Knowledge of 840D Powerline or Modicon PLC's

Ensure continuous flow of material and information through shift handovers and escalation of shortages and machine downtime

Conduct start of shift meeting and full handover to incoming shift

Ensure an excellent standard of housekeeping is maintained in the team work area


Qualifications / Experience / Skills
KEY SKILLS
Must have a Technicians level qualification (HNC or City & Guilds Part 3) and a minimum of 2 years’ post apprenticeship experience in the maintenance of machine tools and factory plant.
