Finance Director - UK & Ireland

Job Summary
AECOM are looking to appoint a Regional Finance Director to take responsibility for our UK & Ireland geography. Reporting to the EMIA CFO and working as Finance business partner to the UK&I Chief Executive. This role will be responsible for all financial performance and reporting as well as setting short/long term financial targets and performance metrics. The near to mid-term agenda will be focused on driving business performance and margins to a new level as well as improving visibility.

The FD will work as a strategic business partner to the UK&I leader and other senior business leaders, with an umbrella view of the business. S/he will need to quickly develop strong relationships across the region as well as continuing to develop his/her team and build bench strength lower down the finance organisation.
In summary, this is a role for a strategic, results-focused leader who will bring a sense of urgency and drive for performance improvement. We are seeking candidates with a balance of technical, strategic and commercial skills who will also bring strong attention to detail and an ability to adopt a ‘sleeves rolled up’ approach when required.

Key responsibilities will include:
Finance leadership: the FD will be responsible for leading the finance organization with key accountabilities including the monthly close process, project controlling, FP&A, business analysis, and the management and implementation of accounting policies.
Maintaining a ‘no surprises environment’: the FD must ensure that adequate systems of internal control and suitable monitoring procedures are in place to underpin the integrity of the financials, ensuring that all business risks are being properly identified, addressed and reported and works with Operations to mitigate those risks.
Applying sound commercial judgement: the FD will need to apply his/her commercial and financial acumen to enable contract profitability and healthy cash flow ensure and that the correct controls and processes are in place. He/she must be able to “perceive the art of the possible” in relation to new business development while ensuring full compliance and integrity.
Playing a ‘hands on’ role and ensuring strong collaboration: the FD will be expected to lead from the front and be sufficiently agile to operate as an organization leader while also getting involved in the details of the work. He/she will be expected to take a proactive approach in helping the business to solve problems.
Developing a world class finance team: the FD will be responsible for developing a superior finance team that supports the bench strength of the broader EMIA finance organization.
Minimum Requirements
The successful candidate will bring a depth of expertise from large and complex consulting and/or services businesses. It will be important that this person display evidence of strong leadership, business partnering and influencing skills. S/he must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be comfortable participating both as an effective contributor in group settings which include senior staff and line executives, and in one-on-one situations.

Keeping on Point: can quickly separate the mission-critical from the nice to dos and the trivials; quickly senses what’s the next most useful thing to work on; focuses on the critical few tasks that really add value and puts aside or delays the rest.

Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA, CFA and/or CPA is preferred.
