Technical Director

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced technical director to join our environment & ground engineering team based in the UK but with an international outlook. Working with our Oil & Gas, industrial clients, manufacturing & mining clients we expect the new appointment to lead integrated delivery across a range of environmental services. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in land assessment & remediation but also someone who has wider experience covering EIA, due diligence and in particular client account management.

The technical director will sit with in the remediation team in the UK be expected to collaborate with our disciplines and with other geographies in developing solutions that meet our client’s needs and expectations. The team is 140 strong and is a key component of the EMIA Remediation Practice which is currently of 600 strong. The Practice is involved with a huge range of clients and projects across the region. The Global Remediation Practice is the largest in the world.

Job Responsibilities:
Be a leader on safety and ensure that safety is clearly set as our priority during project delivery
Lead project delivery for Phase 1, Phase 2 and Remediation in UK and across EMIA ensuring work is delivered on time on budget and meeting or exceeding client expectations
To do this the role will require training in ePM
Technical direction and management of projects led by the Remediation Team and of the Remediation elements of projects led by other AECOM disciplines.
Coordination and management of projects resources activities in accordance with the Project Execution Plan to ensure timely delivery.
Work closely with our clients’ team and demonstrate strong behavioural competencies with respect to client care, collaborative working, responsibility and independent decision making.
Lead client relationships and through those relationships look to develop future opportunities and work. Initially we are looking for someone to specifically support our BP account in EMIA but as the role develops we expect additional focus on other clients

Minimum Requirements
Proven track record in leadership and successful delivery of Phase 1, Phase 2, Remediation and EIA projects
International experience and an ability to work in difficult and sometime challenging geographies
Possess strong problem solving and inter-personal skills.
Demonstrates high level of accountability and independent decision making.
Works closely and collaboratively with colleagues, client and delivery partners.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to write a clear and concise technical report is essential.
Strong analytical capabilities and proficient in the use of relevant design software.
Willing to travel to other offices and sites within the UK and overseas.
Valid driving licence is essential.

Preferred Qualifications
BSc in Geology or an equivalent
MSc in Hydrogeology or equivalent
Chartered Status or an international equivalent
