Senior Vendor Manager, Prime Now UK

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a talented, driven, and entrepreneurial Senior Vendor Manager for our fast-growing same-day delivery service, Amazon Prime Now. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a groundbreaking new initiative at Amazon in its early stages. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical with proven experience driving process improvement and delivering results.

This position will be responsible for Vendor Management of key partners for Prime Now largely in Consumables. Responsibilities include managing vendor P&L, curating relevant ranges by category and city, developing pricing and promotion strategy, launching new categories and partnering with vendors to drive efficiencies and growth. You will also work with Vendor Management teams across Amazon.co.uk in all categories to work on Promotional, Marketing and Advertising opportunities with Vendors building out a strategy for Prime Now advertising and marketing – this could include innovative ideas such as developing City focused sampling programs, or even scoping Celebrity deliveries to market the launch of a new film. We are definitely still at Day One in Prime Now and the right candidate will bring creativity and commercial acumen to developing Prime Now rate cards.

The successful candidate will be comfortable thinking strategically also be able, and willing to execute every operational detail. This role interacts closely with retail, Amazon Media Group and operations business partners across Amazon, and is pivotal to the growth of this strategic initiative. The successful candidate will communicate effectively across teams and levels, while balancing the needs and requirements of internal and external customers. They will be relentlessly focused on improving the customer experience. Flexibility and the ability to prioritize in a changing business environment will also be key. Key Responsibilities:
· P&L responsibility for Prime Now managed vendors: negotiate the best costs, create and sell marketing packages, forecast demand, and grow sales and margin
· Manage day-to-day vendor relationships, represent Amazon when meeting with vendors’ senior executive teams
· Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets
· Work with internal teams to help drive tools and process improvements that affect purchasing and procurement workflows, with emphasis on automating tasks that are currently performed manually
· Work with retail Vendor Management teams to represent the Prime Now opportunity and generate marketing packages from across all Amazon categories

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor Degree required, MBA is preferred
· 6+ years of experience in Vendor Management / Buying or equivalent experience such as Consulting, Finance, Merchandising or Operations
· Superior analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions
· Must possess excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
· Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
· High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
· Excellent collaboration skills that enable you to earn trust at all levels
· Extreme attention to detail and willingness to roll up your sleeves

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Strong data extraction, analytical and problem solving skills
· Proven negotiating skills, influencing abilities and some vendor management experience
· Advanced SQL and Excel skills, familiarity with statistics or other analytical techniques
· The right candidate thrives in a high energy environment where tactical and strategic activities are expected to be driven in parallel
· Highly innovative, flexible and self-directed
· Graduate degree in Business preferred
