London, United Kingdom

Alexa Shopping enables customers to instantly order whatever they need, by simply interacting with their Smart Devices such as Echo or Fire TV. Our Services allow you to shop, no matter where you are or what you are doing; you can go from 'I want that' to 'that's on the way' in a matter of seconds. We are seeking the industry's best to help us create new ways to interact, search and shop. Join us, and you'll be taking part in changing the future of everyday life.

The London team is seeking talented and experienced leader to design and develop the next generation shopping experiences. You'll have the freedom and encouragement to experiment, improve, invent, and innovate on behalf of our customers. You will have an impact on Amazon's new devices and the way shopping is done in the area of IoT. And finally you will have the satisfaction of being able to look back and say you were a key contributor to something special from its earliest stages.

As an experienced leader of the team you will be tasked with solving a challenging business problem through innovative technology. If this sounds intriguing, then we’d like to talk to you about this role.

What you will work on: You will lead a team of talented and experienced engineers to define and implement components responsible for providing new and innovative mobile and device experiences for our customers. Your team will build and operate scalable services while also developing delightful app experiences. You will be working closely with multiple product managers and engineering leaders from partner teams in Amazon Retail and the Alexa organisation.

What we are looking for: We are looking for a talented, experienced Software Development Manager with a strong technical background, customer obsession and solid people management skills to manage and develop a highly-talented and experienced engineering team. As we are a rapidly expanding small team, you will also be required to have solid hiring and new hire development skills. Strong judgment and communication skills, long-term technical vision, and continuous focus on engineering and operational excellence are essential for the success in this role.
Given that this is an early-stage initiative, you will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the team. You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that’s higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and you’ll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon. Along the way, we guarantee that you’ll learn a lot, have fun and make a positive impact on millions of people.
