Student Quantity Surveyor

Job Summary
Carrying out the normal duties and functions which occur within a professional Quantity Surveying office These duties and functions include, inter alia: -
Preparing estimates of construction costs.
Measurement of building quantities for bill preparation and final accounts.
Drafting Bills of Quantities.
Site visits and site measurement.
Presenting the practice at meetings.
Carrying out overall cost control of projects.
Preparing valuations for issue of interim payment certificates.
Preparing and concluding final accounts.
Complying with basic office rules and procedures.
Complying with the requirements of the ‘Continuing Professional Development System’ as administered by the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors.
Attending all in-house seminars and workshops.
Developing computer literacy and skills.
Working in conjunction with other staff.
Ensuring compliance with the firm’s quality management systems, including establishing a full knowledge of the quality and practice manuals.

Minimum Requirements
0 - 2 Years’ Experience post Registration.
Core Accountabilities:

Accountable for a variety of complex tasks covering:
feasibility estimates, cost planning - (presenting under minimum supervision), contract procurement, tender documentation (project leadership role), tender evaluation (competent in post tender adjustments), value engineering and commercial awareness, fee generation, dispute resolution, post contract management (competent in cost reporting).
Accountable for a safe and secure working environment in accordance with SHE guidelines and procedures.
Accountable for briefing the team on the project scope to ensure roles and responsibilities are understood.
Manages the resources on project and within the team.
Manages projects effectively using APIC, Pinnacle/ePMP and other appropriate systems.

Preferred Qualifications
Honours (QS) Degree.
