Senior Content Acquisition Manager, Kindle

DESCRIPTION

Amazon’s Kindle team is looking for a leader to help us continue to revolutionize how customers buy and read books. The ideal candidate has a track record of strong negotiation and analytical skills, ability to recommend and execute a vision, and build programs and features from the ground up. You must be able to influence across multiple company organizations, be an exceptionally strong analytical thinker and have a history of delivering results. You will establish and drive new relationships and strengthen existing relationships with publishers. You will be customer focused, entrepreneurial, a proven self-starter, and have the demonstrated ability to invent.

Within this role, you will -
· Be an expert relationship manager and communicator, who works closely with publishers to ensure Amazon customers can find any book on our store, download it quickly at a great price and have an excellent experience reading it
· Be responsible for the P&L performance of the publishers and books you work with
· Become an ebooks expert who understands industry trends, competitive environment and readers’ needs and innovates in response
· Work closely with leaders across the Kindle organization – locally and globally – in ensuring that we continue to develop new services and product offerings

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· A University degree, ideally in an analytical discipline;
· 5+ years professional experience ideally in e-commerce, purchasing, entrepreneurialism, finance or consulting;
· Track record of innovation and delivering measureable results;
· Capability with analytical tools and systems: able to process Excel spreadsheets and run database queries;
· Ability to negotiate with publishers and influence leaders both externally and within Amazon;
· Strong communication skills and assertive abilities on all levels, while maintaining the ability to be vocally self-critical and seek feedback;
· Special affinity and demonstrated skill with analysis and reports, including excellent Excel/database knowledge, with experience in SQL a plus;
· Ability to creatively 'think big' about new ideas to delight customers and grow readership;
· Significant personal initiative, creativity, and team spirit;
· Enthusiasm for the world of books

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· MBA preferred
· SQL experience.
