Electrical Responsible Technician

The Electrical Responsible Person will be a part of the site engineering & maintenance team. The role provides a specialist technical resource which will ensure that the site / area is compliant with all statutory, company and legal electrical standards.

It is the responsibility of the electrical responsible person to improve and control the site / areas electrical infrastructure, systems and ways of working while providing technical advice and support to capital projects. The Role of Electrical Responsibility is wide ranging and shall be agreed with his or her Line Manager and it is not an exclusive list and may change over time.

Examples are the following:-

Low Voltage maintenance review and performance tracking
Low Voltage, Fixed Electrical Testing
HV & LV design verification
New installation verification and document controls
Controlling drawings and statutory information
Portable Appliance Testing
Hazardous area equipment inspection
Lightning protection
Machinery Safety Inspection and Testing role
Safe system of work SSOW development and implementation
Permit writing, support and review of isolations and schedules
Controlling work in hazardous areas
Competency management and Third Party site audits
Diageo and Legal duties responsibility including LTO Audits
Production Line support and Process Plant support in all areas of maintenance.
Fully align to the Manufacturing Excellence tools & techniques especially in the area of RCPS.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Electrical Certificate minimum. City & Guilds Certification or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years production experience in a packaging environment.
Demonstrate detailed understanding of Packaging, Process Control, and Quality & Environmental, H&S systems
Understand and be proficient in PLC’s and other logic programmable devices.
Excellent communication skills, good attitude and professional conduct is vital.
Experience within a logical approach to problem solving, strong analytical skills to maximise production OEE.


Firm understanding of Legal requirements such as Electrical Safety, PUWER, Machinery Safety, Functional Safety (SIL), DSEAR, HV / LV, Hazard Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH)
CompEx Experience
BS7671 17th Edition & Testing and Inspection.
