Purpose of Role

The role is to encourage our people to be highly engaged in Diageo’s performance ambition, purpose and culture. In this role you will lead the strategy and tactical execution of engagement, change and employee communications that deliver clear and measurable results. The Global Employee Engagement Director leads our global employee engagement agenda, often in partnership with Human Resources, developing and executing a best in class engagement, employee and change communications strategy to inspire all levels of the business.

The CR function protects and promotes Diageo’s reputation and licence to operate, in service of becoming the most trusted and respected consumer Products Company. Corporate Relations work as business owners and partners to unlock value by:

Market Complexity

The growth of Diageo in the last few years has seen significant change with many new businesses and thousands more colleagues joining the company, across developing and developed markets. With a clear strategy for growth, employee engagement and effective employee communications play a critical role in enabling Diageo to evolve at pace and foster an agile, high performance culture. As the stakeholder environment becomes more demanding and connected, our ability to earn trust and respect starts with our employees and is wholly reliant on our ability to deliver an integrated strategy for authentic engagement and communications, both inside and outside the company.

The Role:

You will lead on employee engagement, change and employee communications and senior leadership communications, delivering strategy and tactical execution of campaigns, content and events. You will be the senior advisor and counsel to all levels of the business from the Executive Committee down.
Integrated within Global Brand and Communications, you will direct global experts and resources from this centre of excellence and work with markets and functions with the purpose of delivering outstanding engagement and to build local capability.
Effectively, you will lead to inspire, grow and develop the employee engagement experts within the team – with direct line management of c 5-7 people based in London, Scotland and Ireland. You will live the Diageo purpose and values, acting as a role model and ambassador for the company.
You will act as the Crisis Communications Team Project Manager, effectively supporting the Crisis Communications Team Leader (Global Brand and Communications Director) during the management of major global issues and crises
The person:

An experienced employee engagement strategy, employee and change communications professional
A progressive communications individual with a strong track record of performance building engagement and advocacy through effective employee campaigns
Experience of providing senior level counsel to members of an Executive Committee or equivalent leadership team
Excellent understanding of digital collaboration tools, integrated content platforms and integrated stakeholder communications.
Ability to collaborate, lead and inspire a team, peers and senior leaders to high performance.
Must have strong experience of analysing and utilising data and insights to drive performance.
