Technology & Innovation Manager Continental Europe

  • This role sits within the European Culture, Media & Futures Team - a centralized Marketing Services function that enables Marketeers across our European business to recruit consumers, drive brand fame, activate at scale and ensuring a strong physical presence.

  • Part of the team's mission is to future-proof our organization and create a differentiated advantage for Diageo by responding to changing consumer, media and market landscapes in an agile and impactful way.

  • We constantly identify and trial new technology led opportunities and new innovation partnerships by bringing them into the business or responding to internal briefs.

  • The New Technology & Innovation Manager for Continental Europe will report directly into the Head of Technology & Innovation

The role:

  • Responsible for owning and driving the test & learn innovation program and external innovation partnerships in key European markets such as Germany, Netherlands and France. Executing against specific test & learn pipelines with key media partners (e.g. Google, Facebook, Amazon etc.)

  • Sourcing and identifying technology, suppliers and partnerships that have the potential to deliver growth and efficiency at scale. Past pilots have included Augmented reality brand experiences within a bar environment, personalized dynamic video campaigns for Guinness, user generated content platform for Smirnoff or a conversational commerce chatbot for our Scotch portfolio.

  • Working with internal stakeholders, ranging from brand teams to digital commerce or customer marketing to develop winning uses cases and trial concepts

  • Leading the test and learn agenda with key local media or trade partners.

  • Identifying the key technology trends and opportunities of the future to create a pipeline of innovation.

  • Championing strategic digital innovation initiatives and their application and adaptation to European markets

  • Build the business case for technology application, setting KPI's and overseeing measurement and effectiveness

  • Delivering at least 6-8 trials each year, with clear roll-out plans if successful.

  • Minimum 3-4 years of technology or media/digital innovation experience.

  • Hands-on experience in the start-up eco-system, ideally within a Mad-Tech or relevant consumer start-up. Alternatively within an accelerator/incubator/VC or innovation agency environment

  • Strong understanding of the Marketing & Advertising tech space

  • Fluent in at least one other major European language (German speaker preferred)

  • A "creative technologist" who applies a consumer first approach to developing technology use cases that fix problems, add utility or create amazing experiences
