The Operation Excellence Beer organisation is responsible for providing full technical support to Diageo’s beer production worldwide which is made up of the Diageo owned brewing and packaging operations in Ireland / UK, Africa, and Jamaica along with numerous 3rd party brewing/packaging operations across the world.

The role has 2 category accountabilities. Development and commercialisation of beers globally and a specific accountability which OpEx Beer now holds is commercialisation of all categories of products for the Africa region.

The role holder will take accountability for the delivery of a broad number of specific beer or formulated product programs. Beer programme’s will incorporate development and commercialisation. Formulated programs will focus on commercialisation
The Brand Change team in Beer OpEx are now also responsible for spirit commercialisation in Africa and where formulated spirits are involved the role holder will act as technical consultant.
A key element of the role will be creative brewing from idea to final beer and in particular brewing products that will be shared with consumers in the newly opened Open Gate Brewery facility at St James Gate

This role is initially a 6 month ftc

Top Accountabilities
1. Management of a portfolio of complex technical projects in their entirety in accordance with the Navigate process. Specific focus on the creation of new beers and the commercialisation of Formulated and formulated Spirit products..
2. Support the embedding of appropriate sensory capability on beer and formulated products within Brand Change
3. Support the ongoing development of formulated product facilities and capabilities working with laboratory teams and pilot plant teams
4. Design, plan, organise & execute complex technical trial programs at bench, pilot and production scale, working closely with other teams involved in trials. Present outcomes and results clearly and with insightful interpretation. Demonstrate excellence in trial execution, report generation and stakeholder management.

Qualifications
Science Degree with specific food science or food related element.
Brewing Qualification, Diploma or Master Brewer
Formulated product experience or formal completion of a recognised soft drinks course

Core competencies:

1 -2 years practical experience in a relevant Technical role focussed on beer and formulated products
Brewing development and liquid manufacturing in the formulated product arena
Extensive Product / concept development experience with proven delivery in development and/or commercialisation of beverages or food products
Good knowledge of Concept to Commercialisation (C2C)
Sensory Expertise
Clear thinker and communicator with good analytical and planning skills.
