Research Technician - Palynology

Summary: This part-time post is for a palynology laboratory technician to work under the guidance of Professor Charles Wellman on a newly awarded research grant. The role will entail managing the palynology laboratory, undertaking palynological processing and other scientific analyses, and overseeing student’s laboratory work. The post aims to secure the reputation of the Palynology Laboratory as the foremost palynology lab in the UK.

The role would suit a technician with existing skills and extensive experience in palynology techniques. You will have a good honours degree, BTEC (or equivalent experience) in an appropriate subject and have proven and substantial skills and expertise in palynological processing, including the safe use of hydrofluoric acid. You will also have proven experience of maintaining a palynology laboratory and knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety.
