The role is within the wider International Supply Centre Technical’s Premium Packaging & Innovative Technology Team. PPIT’s purpose is to investigate & apply innovation to enhance Diageo ISC’s packaging & processes. Specifically, this role is within the Brand Value Creation (BVC) team.

BVC is a team of 21, with responsibility to:

Create business opportunities through the optimisation of packaging & process to maximise shareholder value
Deliver value through the introduction of new packaging, technologies & process
Support procurement transfer activity & delivery of quality, cost reducing components

BVC delivers c.75 projects a year, saving approx. £12m pa & enjoys strong ties across & beyond ISC including Brand Change, Procurement, priority market teams & Global Brand teams.

The team is supporting ISCs Tramlining activity in support of Diageo’s Productivity agenda, delivering a further £15m in savings over the next 18months remaining of the programme.

Purpose of the Role
To form and lead cross-functional business teams to deliver demanding cost reduction projects ensuring cost, quality and time are maintained.

Top 3-5 Accountabilities

Formation and leadership of cross-functional business teams to deliver medium to large scale brand change activities.
Find solutions – generate & investigate options to provide robust business case, recommend solution, and then move these to action.
Application of project planning, budgeting, tracking, reporting and stakeholder communications processes to demonstrate required rigour of project management.
Application of necessary packaging development skills to ensure “Design for Quality” is built in & ensure packaging performs well at all stages in the Supply Chain.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree level qualification or equivalent, ideally in technical area.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, capable of building great working relationships with customers, designer, suppliers & project team members.
Excellent people co-ordination and management ability.
Strong project management skills with sound knowledge of a wide range of packaging materials and processes including:◦Design and development of packaging and materials
Materials manufacturing and due diligence
Materials handling, transportation and transit robustness
Risk Management practices and techniques
Knowledge of brand change related processes would be advantageous including:
Liquid development and commercialisation
Artwork specification and management
Reprographics process
Ability to develop sound understanding of Technical Centre Europe, Brand Change processes, Ways of Working and Navigate process.
Able to build & articulate robust business cases, is commercially aware and financially literate.
Excellent organisation, report preparation and presentation skills.
Institute of Packaging Diploma or experience in packaging origination / development an advantage.
