Electrical Inspector

Job Summary
AECOM are seeking an Electrical Inspector to oversee the Electrical and Instrumentation Works and to support the project team to monitor the construction activities so that the Works are carried out in accordance with the design and specification.

The ideal candidate should be an Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 8 years’ site based experience, and ideally with a good knowledge of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP’s), water transmission and distribution, water pump stations. Must have strong technical experience and know how.

Job Duties :
Assist the Electrical Engineer in performing the contractual duties on site.
Monitor and inspect site Works being undertaken by the contractors/subcontractors and monitor overall progress.
Oversee and inspect all electrical & instrumentation work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
Follow-up with the contractor and support in coordinating with the utility authority regarding connections whenever required.
Receive material inspection requests (MAS’s) from contractor, inspect electrical & instrumentation materials at site and sign off requests.
Prepare/complete the necessary documentation prior to inspection of the Works and process accordingly following completion of the inspection.
Check plant, equipment and materials delivered are as approved and are properly stored.
Inspect the installation works of all electrical & instrumentation items/systems as per approved shop drawings.
Inspect the installation works of electrical items as per approved shop drawings such as
SLD, Load Schedule, cable schedule, General arrangement of Electrical Equipment’s layouts and details, Earthing and lightning layouts, Fire Alarm and Telecom Layouts,
P&ID,PLC/RTU/HMI panel GA/IA drawings, Control System Architecture, Instrument Schedules, Cause and Effect Schedules, Alarm and Trip List ,I/O lists and DCS tag lists,
Hook up drawings, Termination and Loop Drawings, JB schedules, FOC cabling drawings, etc.,
Inspect the site test as per approved operation and control philosophy, FDS, Control schematics etc., and as per the approved SAT procedures and testing and commissioning procedures and Plan.
Ensure that safety critical aspects of the project are identified and actively addressed.
Assist the engineer in closing the punch points & handing over the plant.
Assist the engineer with the review of the O&M manuals and As Built drawings.
Be the leader and an exemplar member of the team, placing an emphasis on safe construction practices (Target Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction. Lead by example in driving safe practices on site.
Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitors it for improvement.

Specific Skills :
Experience in the construction of treatment plants and general infrastructure systems.
Experience in managing construction works.
Excellent English communication and report writing skills
Computer skills are mandatory
Be able to communicate effectively with site teams and motivate them to meet the project objectives

Minimum Requirements
A minimum 8 years of experience of electrical/instrumentation works related to similar size sewage treatment plant projects
Middle East experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University
