About The Opportunity
Job Summary

The Director of Supply Chain plans, directs and controls the overall planning, implementation and optimization of all activities and support required for the delivery of products to the customer from contract acquisition through distribution. They provide leadership to the supply chain business development function including identification of business opportunities, proposal preparation, “win strategy” development, achievement of contract award, negotiating of contracts and management of new and established business.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide managerial guidance to the supply chain organization to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures related to; production planning, procurement, traffic, warehousing, supplier performance and inventory control.
Lead the development of the strategies and objectives of the business unit supply chain organization including coordination with supply chain personnel in other divisions within GKN to best leverage company-wide procurement activities.
Work with the Commercial (Contracts) organization to ensure that sales order entry properly translates the needs of the customer into accurate internal order information for the purpose of generating planning and material requirements.
Manage the planning/logistics and procurement activity of the business unit buyers and planners to provide timely material support, while at the same time maximizing inventory turns and meeting business unit financial objectives.
Develop a responsive supplier base, providing cost effective, on-time delivery of quality material.
Lead and supervise the production planning and shop order release functions to achieve on-time shop order release, effective machine and labor utilization, proper tracking of product flow and on-time delivery to customers.
Develop and ensure attainment of business unit inventory objectives and material budgets. Develop and maintain inventory reduction plans and coordinate the activity throughout the Garden Grove Business Unit.
Manage the business unit supplier quality and delivery programs and ensure they are compliant to all AS9100 regulations, standards and needs of the Garden Grove site.
Ensure compliance with the approved US Government sourcing and procurement procedures (i.e. FAR and DFAR).
Ensure proper and complete flow-down of customer requirements to the supply base.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required, with an emphasis in business or related field highly preferred.
10+ years’ experience in Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing/Enterprise Resource Planning in a high-paced manufacturing environment, including 5+ years’ experience managing a team of direct reports.
U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in aerospace or similar regulatory industry highly preferred.
Demonstrated Supply Chain expertise through APICS (The Association for Operations Management) Certifications (CPIM - Certified in Production and Inventory Management) and CSCP - Certified Supply Chain Professional) preferred.
Strong analytical skills, an understanding of manufacturing, lean manufacturing principles, and strong customer relation skills.
Excellent communications skills including strong executive-level presentation skills.
Proficient in MS Office suite.
