This post will play a key role in developing research and knowledge exchange in agri-food research as part of the N8 agri-food research programme. This post will also be a key member of the Advanced Resource Efficiency Centre (AREC), linking the research and impact agenda of the agri-food research theme of the Centre. The successful candidate will work closely with N8 colleagues to examine the issues of Industry 4.0 for resource efficiency such as waste-to-resource and circular economy towards sustainable food supply chains. Reduction of waste at all levels of the food supply chain, through effective and efficient (re)utilisation and management of resources, is an important sustainability issue and one that is currently under researched from the perspective of their digitalisation.

We seek an outstanding candidate wishing to establish an independent academic career working at the interface of academia and industry and promoting translational impactful research. Candidates will have already demonstrated their ability to undertake research at an internationally-competitive level and have clear potential to work in an inter-disciplinary and collaborative manner. You will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent substantial experience of research and development practice. We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK.
