Faculty of Engineering Head of International and External Engagement

University of Sheffield

Sheffield, United Kingdom

Summary: The University of Sheffield’s Faculty of Engineering is one of the largest and most successful engineering faculties in the UK. Our seven academic departments and three interdisciplinary programme areas cover all the engineering disciplines, and the expertise of our academic staff is recognised globally. Through cutting-edge research and strong partnerships with global industry leaders, our academics tackle the biggest challenges facing the modern world through an increasingly collaborative and multidisciplinary approach. We are looking for an exceptional Faculty of Engineering Head of International and External Engagement who can act as a central point of coordination for the Faculty’s engagement with partners including global industry partners, SMEs, international university partners, government departments and funding bodies. The post holder will also play an important role within a virtual cross-university partnerships development team, representing the Faculty in the development of a portfolio of University wide partnerships led by the President and Vice Chancellor and the Director of Strategic Projects and Communications.

This will require a highly responsive approach, and there is therefore an expectation that the post holder will understand both Faculty and University priorities and opportunities, and have an easy ability to work in a virtual team with senior colleagues as appropriate. Our ideal candidate will have a good honours degree (or equivalent experience), and extensive experience of building and maintaining effective partnerships for varied and complex organisations. A natural networker with a high level of motivation, you will be able to develop relationships with senior leaders across the University of Sheffield and our partners. You will be able to gain insight and ideas from a large range of stakeholders and develop an engagement strategy that is in-line with the University’s Strategic Plan. Critical to this role is the management of complex relationships that require a high level of professional judgement to maximise the opportunities for effective partnership. Reporting to the Faculty Director of Operations, the post holder will be a member of the Faculty of Engineering Executive Board and will be required to travel regularly. We are one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development. We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience
