About The Opportunity
Job Summary

Under the supervision of the HR Manager, this position is responsible for providing a wide range of HR support to our multi-site aerospace manufacturing organization located in the New England region of the U.S. Based in the Newington, CT facility, this position will play a key role in the success of the organization by utilizing business knowledge and human resources expertise. Working closely with the HR Manager, this role will offer guidance on recruitment, terminations, training, compensation & benefits, performance management, employee relations and other HR best practices, while facilitating a positive relationship between employees and senior management.

Key Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:

Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding process and facilitate broader talent acquisition processes.
Develop, implement, and manage effective affirmative recruiting programs to produce qualified candidates in the shortest possible time. Generate affirmative action plans for reporting and compliance purposes.
Routinely audit Talent data, analyze for opportunities for improvement in processes and training and identify areas of concern in process compliance.
Assist in updating and maintaining HR policies and procedures, job descriptions and other HR related documents.
Responsible for monitoring department practices to ensure compliance with the documented procedures.
Assist in the development and execution of training and development programs. Conduct training for company-wide initiatives, and assist with development, design, and delivery of other applicable training programs.
Drive the Performance Management system and culture by enabling managers and employees through training and coaching (i.e. key metrics, SMART goal setting, tracking and review).
Provide support to managers and employees in various HR related topics such as benefits, LOAs, compensation, and work with employees and corporate HR team to resolve issues and problems.
Counsel Managers through the disciplinary process up to and including the termination of employees. Conduct exit interviews.
Conduct investigations into employee concerns, and work with HR Manager and the appropriate manager to ensure a resolution.
Assist in providing HR Policy guidance and interpretation and administer human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel.
Assist with developing and delivering effective employee communications to promote various HR activities.
Ensure data integrity through daily maintenance of HRMS systems (i.e. MyGKN, SAP, ADP E Time, GKN Academy, Teamsite, etc.): entering new employees, updating employee information, terminations, organizational changes, etc. as well as maintaining their ongoing compliance in preparation for audits.
Prepare offer, promotion and change in status paperwork (i.e. PAF’s).
Manage the onboarding process for all new personnel.
Complete employment and payroll verifications as requested.
Responsible for Workers Compensation administration.
Support the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience.
Maintain a thorough understanding of employment regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, applicable laws and employment legislation pertaining to all personnel matters and various state and federal requirements. Advise the HR team and management on needed action.
Update and maintain HR Teamsite. Ensure HR documents are updated, accurate and organized.
Support the HR Manager and team with various HR related projects. Serve as backup to HR Coordinator.
Liaise with other GKN HR Representatives.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

4 year degree in human resources management, or related discipline.

5+ years’ experience in human resources.

Ability to travel locally within the New England region, as well as domestic (30%).

Strong knowledge of key HR processes and procedures.

Strong understanding of HR best practices and current regulations.

Prior experience with HRMS systems.

Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects/issues and stay focused.

Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills: accuracy is essential.

Sound judgement and strong problem solving skills.

Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion.

Established proficiency in the use of MS Office applications.

Additional Qualifications:

Experience working in a multi-site manufacturing environment preferred.
Advanced HR certification preferred.
An energetic forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical and work standards.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll, benefits, and employee issues.
Outstanding interpersonal skills: must display patience and helpfulness at all times; front line contact for employee issues.
