Financial Controller

You will provide strong financial control, reporting and data analysis for the front office element (Imported products and packaged products) as a part of the Leeds medium voltage business unit. Essential functions:

· To provide strong financial control, reporting and data analysis and play a key role in helping to model best practice within the BU, monthly follow up of variances through the provision and/or review of various reports, including margin deviation, overdue debt, orders & sales act v forecast, backlog analysis.
· Understand the concepts of project accounting including POC / revenue recognition methods. Clear understanding on when revenue can be recognised in line with Group rules & IFRS / GAAP guidelines.
· Attend monthly project reviews ad hoc for high risk projects; report major deviations to Project Execution manager / Leeds Site Director.
· Strongly interact with contract management teams on a daily basis to ensure that project accounting is accurate and project costing is updated and in line with final expectations; identify high risk projects and ensure adequate risk provisions are maintained.
· Working capital / debts. Working closely with Credit Control; monitor significant risk items within the BU (front office element) and challenge project managers against target. Attend monthly high level divisional A.R reviews.
· Ownership of the front office element of the Leeds P&L. Manage month end close to Group reporting timetable and ensure that financial summary reports reflect the BU P&L.
· Support contracts execution team in understanding project accounting methodology (cash invoicing/revenue recognition) and oversee/own the accuracy of the Orderbook.

Qualifications and experience required:

· You will be a CIMA/ACCA qualified with related experience in this area.
· You need to have a Project Accounting experience and knowledge.
· Excellent relationship building skills with key colleagues including; project managers, FBPs, FP&A team members, Site Director, Site Leadership team, Leeds finance colleagues and the UK finance team
· Understanding of reporting tools (SAP, HFM, Cognos, BFO)
· Understand the financial processes and what outputs are required
· Excellent excel skills to analyse data & develop tools/reports
· Highly analytical nature for analysis and problem solving and a have a mindset of challenging everybody
