As a Program Manager I you will manage customer facing programs in steady state production (post LCG 6) at a single site and provide business leadership to ensure the contractual requirements are delivered and the business results are achieved.
Functional Responsibility
PMs and IPTs are to meet the Functional and site governance requirements unless changes are required to meet contractual or other specific needs In which case these changes documented and agreed by the VP PMs and Function VP(s).
To be a champion of Programme Management excellence as a key member of the Programme Management Function
Use the GKN Function (including Programme Management) best practice processes, procedures, tools
Customer
The primary interface with the Customer for all aspects of the contract including the areas of Engineering, Supply Chain, Commercial and Manufacturing/Operations (VoC)
These responsibilities are exercised through relevant specialist leads such as the Chief Engineers and Commercial Lead, who will operationally report to the programme Manager.
Build positive and mutually beneficial relationships with the Customer to ensure overall customer satisfaction relative to the current programme and to support the strategic development of Customer relationships towards achieving follow on programmes.
Programme Performance:
Deliver Sales, Profit, Margin, Inventory, Quality, Delivery and Cash Received on time targets
Execute and deliver the programme from contract award through to closure within the boundaries of the approved Business Case, ensuring the most optimised cost base through the Make – Buy process.
Contract and Business Case fulfilment
In Steady State: (reflecting the relationship with the site :)
Create a sales demand through the SIOP process and ensure the MPS meets the delivery schedule
Agree a set of performance (TCQ) with the Values Streams or Head of Operations and continue to manage Customer interface and approve any external changes.
Manage rate change, significant cost or other initiatives
Escalate the Programme and Customer issues to the Head of Programmes and the General Manager
Team Leadership
Ensure the suitable engagement of all key stakeholders to enable programme performance, though proactively resolving issues and risks.
Establish a high performing Integrated Product Team (IPT)
Set the work priority and timing for their IPT leads and teams and contributes to their PDP setting the performance objectives
Provide programme governance through the IPT, the GKN Lifecycle Management process, the conduct of monthly reviews and through programme reporting and adherence to the applicable GKN governance framework
Operational Responsibility
You will lead an IPT and manage a program that has completed New Product Introduction and is past Lifecycle Management Gate 6.
Build positive and mutually beneficial relationships with the Customer to ensure overall customer satisfaction relative to the current programme and to support the strategic development of Customer relationships towards achieving follow on programmes.
Agree a set of performance (TCQ) with the Values Streams or Head of Operations and continue to manage Customer interface and approve any external changes.
Ensure coordination of proposal preparation, statements of work and specifications, estimation of product/service costs, negotiation and administration of contracts.
Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes.
Establishes Program Management Plan (PMP) including customer milestones, accompanying Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and manages adherence to the same.
Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and integrated master schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.
Develops control systems and reports that accurately measure progress, identify potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken, and ensures the meeting of company's contract commitments.
Manages the performance of program functional task elements such as procurement, manufacturing, quality control, logistics, and administrative functions through an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
Manages advancement of product(s) using the GKN Lifecycle Management process.
Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of customer facing programs or subsystems of major programs.
Develops business growth opportunity by expanding statements of work with current customers.
Supplier Integration: Establish and maintain a collaborative working environment from the earliest stage through program end.
Program Execution and Control: Use a formal concept of operations to manage activities, monitor performance and implement changes to meet technical, quality, schedule, cost and other objectives
Risk, Issue and Opportunity Management: Use an integrated methodology to capture opportunities, mitigate risks and correct issues
