Global Travel (GT) is the fifth largest of Diageo’s 21 markets. The business has recently reshaped its vision and structure, to drive greater focus around delivery of ambitious goals. Our vision is to ensure that “every global traveller has an engaging experience with our brands”.

The Innovation Manager is accountable for the complete Premium Core & Reserve innovation agenda across the globe in GT. More specifically the role involves 1) identifying strategic opportunities pre-Gate 3, partnering with COEs and GBTs to develop winning concept/pack/liquid, often as lead market and 2) leading the commercialisation of all projects, creating winning propositions for us, customers and consumers, leading the internal and customer engagement and ensuring robust P&L.

Purpose of Role

The purpose of the role is to bring to life the excitement of our innovation agenda through inspiring leadership and influencing skills within project teams, GBTs, COEs and senior leaders within GT and how it contributes positively to penetration and share growth in our identified key battle grounds: Vodka, Rum, and Gin.

Top Accountabilities

1. Lead & owns the delivery of the Reserve and Premium Core F18 and F19 Innovation Projects: Baileys, Smirnoff, Zacapa, Tanqueray, and Cîroc.

2. Works across the organisation and achieves great results from a cross-functional team of Commercial, GBT, COE and ISC.

3. Ensures creative excellence; disciplined project leadership and management are balanced in crafting new opportunities and brands from superior consumer insight and powerful innovation concepts delivered through GBT and COE which are commercially and financially viable.

4. Builds effective relationships and excitement within the organisation with all key stakeholders (both internal and external to GT) to ensure engagement leading to project delivery and always maximising the innovation opportunity.

5. Supports Head of Innovation on F18 performance and >F20 pipeline

Qualifications and experience required

Sound consumer marketing and commercial skills, ideally with Innovation experience. Ability to apply the skills to tailor-make launch plans suitable for different brand or product introductions. And ability to craft new opportunities and brands from superior consumer insight and powerful innovation concepts delivered through GBT and COE which are commercially and financially viable.
>5 years experience in consumer marketing & innovation. Previous experience in create innovation role ideal.
Strong project management skills – ability to manage multiple projects.
Commercial execution – build and roll-out brilliant launch plans.
Ability to work effectively across complex organization.
