Assistant Director - Research Growth and Development

Summary:

We have a genuinely exciting opportunity for you to join us in a senior role supporting the University to achieve its research ambitions.

The external environment is changing rapidly and our approach to services and interactions with researchers is customer-centric and flexible. We offer professional expertise and development to enable our researchers to secure research funding and to produce outputs of the highest quality, whether publications or impact on society and the economy.

You will work closely with senior research leaders, such as the Vice-President for Research & Innovation, Deputy Vice-Presidents and Faculty Directors, as well as providing leadership within Research Services and more widely.

You will have direct responsibility for three teams focussing on:

• Strategic research bid support;
• Impact and Commercialisation;
• Researcher professional development.

You have expert knowledge and experience of research funding, impact, Intellectual Property (IP) exploitation and researcher development. This role will move your career on to bring that experiece to develop strategies and ensure excellent service delivery.

Your experience will enable you to be a credible and influential leader. With an open and collaborative style, you will build and maintain genuine relationships with your colleagues in the Service and with researchers and other professional services colleagues.

Research Services has recently undergone a restructure following a Review of Research Support. This is your opportunity to ensure the future successful operation of the Department. You will join a team with strength and depth in its skills and will
both learn from their considerable experience as well as offering them excellent support and continuing professional development.
