Amazon Video is seeking a Technical Writer to join the Partner Engineering Team and support our work with A-list home entertainment manufacturers to bring Amazon Video to the latest and greatest home entertainment devices. The team has already launched Amazon Video on a large range of living room devices from Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Vizio, and Hisense amongst others. As consumer equipment manufacturers continue to innovate with the launch of 4K UHD and HDR, we aim to improve our collaboration to help them integrate, innovate, and deliver a fantastic experience for our customers.

The Technical Writer will lead all documentation efforts within the software development team to support our partners with the integration and testing of client applications for Amazon Video distribution on big-screen devices like Smart TVs, Blu-Ray Players, and Set-top boxes. They will be instrumental in delivering a superlative toolset to Amazon Video partners, supporting their efforts as they port and verify Amazon Video on a growing range of Living Room devices. The Technical Writer will create and maintain the documentation that will guide the team to innovate, automate and troubleshoot device integrations.

A successful candidate will have an established background in producing high quality developer-facing documentation, a strong technical aptitude, excellent organizational skills, great communication skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, high creativity, great analytical reasoning skills, and, of course, a passion for movies and TV. The successful applicant will have the unique opportunity to establish an editorial voice and style for all Amazon Video partner documentation globally. This role is based in the London Development Centre and will provide opportunities to work with partners in Europe, Asia, and the U.S.


· University Degree, or equivalent relevant work experience
· Understanding of Information Management and Online Publication fundamentals
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word
· Experience writing and editing on developer-facing technical documentation through all phases of development.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.


· Experience of working with software developers on API documentation and system architecture
· Leading role experience in delivering and improving developer documentation and delivery infrastructure
· Creation of technical content projects from scratch
· Ability to work independently
· Knowledge of professional software engineering documentation best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding documentation standards, source control management, content management systems (CMS), documentation release, testing, and related operations
· Experience working with documentation version control tools and documentation generators.
· Experience in communicating with customers, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
· Experience influencing technical writing best practices within a team
· Hands-on familiarity in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
· Experience in writing for a global audience and documentation localization best practices.
