Job Summary
AECOM is seeking to hire an experineced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer in Abu Dhabi.
As the Mechanical Commissioning Agent, you will be involved in all the stages of the commissioning process, design, construction, and handing over. The commissioning agent is responsible to oversee the commissioning process and is responsible to ensure the work that is being designed, constructed, and handed over is as per the owner’s project requirement and following the guidelines set by ESTIDAMA and other authorities having jurisdiction.

Job Duties :
Carry out commissioning focused design review
Verify and ensure that the Basis of Design and Owner’s Project requirement are aligned
Assist the Lead ICA in the review and update of the Design Phase and Construction Phase Commissioning Plan
Assist in the development of construction checklists
Assist in the development of training requirements in conjunction with the Client FM team
Perform a review of the design, drawings and specifications at the end of the design development stage
Assist the Lead ICA in attending meetings arranged by the PQP or the Client to discuss and resolve all issues identified in the design matrix
Review and witness commissioning process during construction and operation at the agreed frequency of witnessing
Review Contractor’s schedule of commissioning activities
Review Contractor’s plan of action for resolution of system deficiencies identified during commissioning
Perform site visits as programmed to observe selected components, system installation and performance of the systems to be commissioned.
Attend selected planning and site meeting to obtain information on construction progress.
Request and review additional information required to perform commissioning tasks, including control sequences, contractor start up and check out procedures.
Review equipment submittals of commissioning scope of systems and approved compliance of the systems/equipment as per the project requirements.
Review pre-functional checklists.
Review functional test procedures.
Witness selected functional tests perform by installing contractors.
Witness selected re-testing of systems that do not pass initial functional testing.
Oversee and approved the training of the Owner’s operating personnel related to commissioned systems.
Review and comment on the content of O & M Manuals.
Verifying that the submittals for all equipment to be commissioned satisfy the requirements of the OPR.
Verify that the systems and assemblies comply with the OPR and the BOD.
Review method statements provided by the contractor and develop detailed test procedures and data collection form to support the commissioning process.
Assist in the development of the complete summary commissioning report with recommendations prior to acceptance of HVAC, plumbing and drainage system.
Assist the PQP in finalizing the ESTIDAMA construction credit approval by helping obtain the necessary documentations from the Contractor to complete the commissioning credit.
Perform all duties and tasks in coordination with the other ICA team members and help maintain a cohesive working environment within the team
Deputize the Lead ICA as the situation requires
Specific Skills :
Experience as a commissioning agent or worked as part of the commissioning team
Knowledgeable in the construction processes and the phasing of work on site
Knowledgeable in the mechanical systems and installation as well as relevant construction codes
With Design background is a preference
Possess analytical thinking
Driving license is preferable as most of the work requires visit to project sites
Good working knowledge in the requirements of ESTIDAMA
Good working knowledge in the UAE authority requirements (ADCD, ADDC, etc.)
Good technical writing skills for field observations and commissioning progress reports
Literate in the basic Microsoft programs and tools
Good communication skills and client facing

Minimum Requirements
Minimum 5 years working experience as a commissioning agent or worked as part of the commissioning team or at least 10 years mechanical engineering experience in building construction. The candidate should be knowledgeable in the construction processes and the phasing of work on site. Relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations, design development, control systems, energy calculations and conversant with international and local codes and practices is ideal.
Experience in project management within a defined fee budget and program

Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
