Job Summary
Our Network Operations and Traffic team have a vacancy for a Regional Director with experience in leading development and delivery of a broad range of traffic planning, engineering and management disciplines in the Urban Traffic Engineering to expand our South East team into a new location in Basingstoke.

The Traffic and Local Roads team provides concept and preliminary design, network modelling, detailed design, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of projects for local authorities and contractors plus supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a specialised traffic and highways interface.

The successful candidate will be developing a new team, but will support our existing largest team in St Albans and Croydon that is actively involved in the delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including:
Southwark Borough Council
Our LOHAC Partners

You will be chartered (or equivalent) and will have proven team leadership, project delivery and business management experience within a commercial environment. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team.

In addition to delivering work within the local office the role will involve working with other AECOM teams in the UK and Ireland. We are therefore seeking candidates who are able to work flexibly across other AECOM offices as projects dictate to support the wider business. Further, the role offers opportunities to deliver work into AECOMs wider European, Middle East, Africa and India regions.

Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety – provide Health & Safety leadership to the district team consistent with AECOM’s safety policies and procedures to deliver a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members.
Business Development - to be responsible for Traffic & Local Roads business development activities in the Basingstoke Area and also support the wider South East Team to increase market share, particularly in London. To develop sound client relationships, being alert to commercial opportunities. To identify emerging opportunities and develop strategies to fully exploit them. To lead, or assist with, the preparation of major proposals.
Support Sector Operations Management to deliver the required Financial KPI’s within our Southern District.
Resource Management – responsible for the traffic and local roads team based in Basingstoke. To ensure the necessary levels and distribution of appropriate resources locally for the pipeline of work to be delivered efficiently and to line manage a team in the performance of their duties.
Project Management - following successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system act as a Project Approver and/or Project Manager including monitoring financial performance. Comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided.
Risk Management - develop and maintain a philosophy and attitude of sound risk management through comprehensive reviews of contractual risk on projects, conformity with risk management procedures and the continuing development of good practice.
Assist in the wider corporate and management functions of the Transportation business line to ensure continuing growth and development overall. This includes a requirement to work flexibly across the UK and other AECOM geographies.

Minimum Requirements
You will have:
A successful track record in the management and delivery of a portfolio of traffic engineering projects.
Excellent technical and communication skills.
An ability to demonstrate high level of experience and expertise in some or all of the following areas:
Traffic modelling software (e.g. VISSIM, TRANSYT and LinSig etc..);
Traffic engineering/management design;
Cycling and walking design;
Traffic signal design;
Bus priority and BRT;
Road safety audits, analysis and design;
Traffic signing and wayfinding;
Parking, road safety and public transport design; and
Traffic Regulation Orders and parking.

A flexible approach to supporting project and business development activities across UK and Ireland plus wider AECOM geographies (e.g. Continental Europe, Russia, Middle East, India and Africa.).
Demonstrable strength in business development and team leadership.
An ability to deal directly with clients and engage and influence at a senior level within client organisations.
A successful track record of delivery of bids and proposals.
A proven ability of managing and growing a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain a highly motivated project delivery team.
Strong project delivery skills with an ability to effectively manage project commercial risks.
A good industry profile , the gravitas to represent AECOM with major clients.
