AECOM are looking for exceptional graduate landscape architects to join our busy studios listed above (including newly established landscape teams in Birmingham and expanding teams in Chesterfield).

Our current portfolio of works, for public and private sector clients, comprises a diverse mix of local and national infrastructure improvements for major clients. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
• HS2 Independent Assessor of Plant Material : ongoing inspection/monitoring and quality assurance for large numbers of native plants for the HS2 Phase 1 project
• HS2 Phase 1 – West Midlands metropolitan section assessment and mitigation design
• Detailed design and implementation of public realm for University of Salford as part of major transformational change to the campus.
• Oakham High Street - design options and subsequent detail design and implementation for enhancement.
• Public realm strategy for Paisley town centre as part of their bid for City of Culture 2021.
• Detail design for a major residential project in York on former industrial land.
• Leicester flood conveyance design and implementation on multiple sites within the city centre.
• M54/M6 landscape and visual impact assessment for a new highway.
• SHLAA housing assessments for local authorities in Nottinghamshire.
• LVIA of numerous development types – from minerals to retail.
• Streetscape improvements in Leicester
• A strategy and vision for Crystal Palace Park, London
• An evaluation of the University of Cyprus campus masterplan


When a graduate starts with us we pair them with an experienced member of the team who will guide and mentor them through their initial period working on live projects. Their initial role will support and assist with the completion of tasks such as:

• Input into the production of Environmental Statements, Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments and associated planning documents;
• Site survey, working as one of a pair to take photographs and then provide a written description of the baseline using a template;
• Developing mitigation strategy and design solutions to reduce landscape and visual effects from new infrastructure;
• Use of ACAD, photoshop and Revitt to prepare base plans etc.;
• Research, writing and assembly of LVIA baselines and assistance in undertaking the assessment;
• Site analysis and production of plans;
• Preparation of presentation drawings; and
• Preparation of information for planning applications, detail design and subsequent construction information.

Minimum Requirements
A graduate with a Landscape Architecture Degree– minimum 2:1 or above and Graduate Diploma or Masters
Proven exposure to Landscape Architecture (ideally with approx. 6 months- 1 year relevant work experience gleaned either during studies, industrial placement, vacation work or since graduation)
You will have good technical and communication skills ideally with experience of undertaking baseline surveys and LVIAs.
Good photoshop, ACAD and word skills as well as attention to detail and compliance with file naming and filing conventions.
Must be a Licentiate member of the Landscape Institute and be prepared to commence the Landscape Institute Pathway to Chartership

Interest in all aspects of Landscape Architecture from concept to detail design.
Ability to deliver Landscape Architecture solutions, and successfully manage time to meet project deadlines
A hard working and highly motivated individual with excellent communication and report writing skills
Client focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach willing to contribute to project success.
