Senior Software Development Engineer, Amazon Video - Automation and Tooling Team

The Living Room Test Services and Tooling team is responsible for developing all required infrastructure and tools which enable teams to deliver the Amazon Video application to our customers and partners rapidly. This includes building test services that enable distributed on device testing, Continuous Delivery features and building tools that improve the overall quality of the Amazon Video Application.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the AV Living Room Test Services and Tooling Team, you will lead the design and implementation of significant technical projects by both achieving results through other SDEs as well as writing critical-path code yourself. In collaboration with the Software Development Manager on the team, you will influence your team’s technical and business strategy by making insightful contributions to team priorities and approach, take the lead in identifying and solving ambiguous technical problems, architecture deficiencies, or areas where your team’s software bottlenecks the innovation of other teams. To achieve results through others, you will demonstrate technical influence over 1-2 teams, either via a collaborative software effort or by increasing their productivity and effectiveness by driving software engineering best practices. You'll also lead design reviews for your team, actively participate in design reviews across the org, provide insightful code reviews and actively mentor other engineers.


• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Understanding of computer science fundamentals such as algorithm design, problem solving, complexity analysis, data structures and object orientated design
• Experience taking a leading role in designing, building and implementing complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
· Experience leading & influencing software engineering best practices within your team and across others for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience mentoring software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as Node.JS, Java, C or C++
• Solid understanding of test principles, including TDD
• Track record in building test tools as well as working with established testing toolsets.


· MS Degree in Computer Science or related field
· Hands-on experience as a full stack software development engineer (front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between)
· In depth experience with React
· Experience with Scala.
