PR Manager – Author and Reader programmes

Amazon.co.uk is seeking a highly-intelligent, high-judgement, self-motivated and creative individual for the role of PR Manager for its Author and Reader programmes.

Key responsibilities include devising and implementing strategies and campaigns that raise awareness of Amazon initiatives which bring benefits to authors and readers including key services like Kindle Direct Publishing, CreateSpace and Amazon Publishing; developing and executing activity with industry partners; and overseeing the day-to-day running of the press office including all proactive and reactive media relations. You will also effectively represent Amazon as a spokesperson and deliver strategic communications counsel to internal executives.
Able to work at internet-speed, you will have a track record of delivery on major campaigns, a high level of creativity and extensive experience in dealing with a wide variety of media contacts and national news desks.

Key Responsibilities
· Developing and managing strategic public relations programmes that drive awareness of Amazon’s Author and Reader programmes

· Using the site, its features and products to generate a steady stream of strategic and tactical PR ideas

· Proactive and reactive media relations as part of the press office

· Managing events aimed at readers and authors

· Sharing ideas and results with Amazon colleagues internationally

· Managing budgets and delivering clear, results-focused reports

· Effectively representing Amazon as a public spokesperson.

· Building and maintaining relationships with key individuals in the business


• Agency or in-house PR experience
• Track record of delivery on major campaigns
• Extensive experience in dealing with high-level consumer media contacts
• Knowledge of the UK retail and online markets, preferably with some experience in publishing


• A PR expert - a demonstrated feel for what works for a brand, a strong communicator and comprehensive contact book
• Hands on - knowledgeable about what’s going on in the media and on the site with the ability to marry the two at short notice for maximum PR benefit
• Strategic - ensuring that PR activity delivers against business objectives and articulates key messages
• Proactive in the extreme – enjoys taking responsibility and making things happen
• Organised - able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
• Leadership - able to inspire agencies to deliver and demonstrate responsibility for author and reader-focused PR to senior managers
• Adaptable - able to work in a corporate environment
