Technical Business Developer

Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Technical Business Developer to help build and scale one of the world’s largest and complex networks. As a Technical Business Developer for Internet Services, you will play an important role in planning and sourcing IP interconnect and backbone capacity in close coordination with other team members. You will respond to peering requests, coordinate peering and transit connections with both external parties and internal teams (including provisioning), assist in establishing peering with partner networks at new Internet exchanges globally, and work closely with network operations teams to ensure that peering and transit connections are upgraded in a timely and effective manner. You will also conduct fiber diversity and network topology planning for our global backbone.

Our Technical Business Developers responsible for sourcing and planning have strong ownership of our network acquisition and implementation strategy and the maintenance of relationships with strategic suppliers to expand and grow Amazon's AWS footprint worldwide. You will work closely with an agile team to find optimal solutions to Amazon's ongoing needs for network capacity. By applying a unique blend of business and technology experience, you will work closely with both outside parties and internal teams to find creative, cost effective, and often unusual solutions to meet Amazon's ongoing growth and expansion needs worldwide.

· Organize, track, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to deliver new IP interconnect and backbone capacity for Amazon.
· Develop interconnect capacity plans to enable effective, efficient and scalable delivery of Amazon content to users.
· Assist in establishing peering with partner networks at new interconnect facilities globally, and work closely with network operations teams to ensure that peering and transit connections are upgraded in a timely and effective manner
· Work with capacity planners and engineers to ensure the most efficient and cost effective network topology is delivered
· Collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams including business development, legal, and deployment, to successful implement these plans.

· A Bachelor's Degree in an IT related field or equivalent experience is required
· Candidates should have a minimum of 5-years industry experience in a similar environment.
· Extensive knowledge of IP peering ecosystems, global fiber optic networks and the interconnection of these networks in order to obtain the highest availability for delivering online services globally.
· Ability to create complex financial models to understand business impacts of various network solutions is required.
· Experience interacting with senior executives and other management within a company and working across commercial, technical, domestic, and international arms of an organization
· Demonstrated ability to formulate data driven decisions that lead to results.
· Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position.
· Willing to travel.

· Master's degree or MBA.
· Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong organizational, multitasking, prioritization abilities, and an excellent attention to detail.
· Experience working in an IP network planning or implementation role at an ISP, telecoms operator, or CDN.
· International experience; fluent in English, additional languages.
· Quick and clear network strategy recognition in order to provide optimal results for the company.
· Experience in directing corporate strategy is preferred, and proven ability to work across engineering and product, sales and marketing teams.
· Telecommunications experience (Technical or operations) or (Sales, Marketing or Product Management), and (procurement, sourcing or Contract Negotiations).
· Ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team
· Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects.
