Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical leadership skills and the ability to steer the technical direction of the AMRC North West team whilst ensuring projects are delivered successfully. You will join the AMRC North West at inception and play a part in placing Lancashire amongst the most innovative regions in the UK, joining a well-connected team with world-leading reputations.

You will use your knowledge of digital manufacturing systems and your understanding of lean production, to provide essential support and leadership to the AMRC North West team.
In this varied and dynamic role, you will be responsible for numerous concurrent projects, for a range of partners and funding bodies, expended to a wider delivery team. You will also develop technical solutions and ideas for project staff to adopt and progress.

With responsibility for of at least four staff and a project portfolio of £500k per annum you will add substantial benefit by steering the technical direction of AMRC North West. Other key aspects of the role will include regular communication and formal reporting to project teams, stakeholders and customers whilst maintaining a high reputation through the projects’ delivery and customer engagement.

You will:
• be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
• have a strong background in high voltage DC electrical systems
• have the ability to motivate and lead others.

Job Description
Main Duties and Responsibilities
 Technical responsibility for numerous concurrent projects, for a range of partners and funding bodies, expended to a wider delivery team.
 Identify a technology road map and grow a portfolio of work to support its development.
 Develop of technical solutions and ideas for project staff to adopt and progress.
 Line management of a team of at least four staff with a project portfolio of £500k pa.
 Report directly to the Directors of AMRC Northwest on the performance of the team against agreed measures and targets.
 Provide AMRC partners with confidence, support and value for money.
 Regular communication and formal reporting to project teams, stakeholders and customers.
 Establish a reputation for being the world-class solution provider in the field of battery pack manufacturing development.
 Maintain a high reputation through the projects delivery and customer engagement.
 Lead and guide others to be technically competent, take initiative and be innovative.
 Support the project teams in risk management and mitigation, and escalate issues in a timely manner.
 Supervisor support to EngD students.
 Provide stakeholder and senior management communication of project status.
