Amazon Web Services is seeking a results-oriented professional with strong integrity and high judgment to establish programs that maximize the positive impact our company and its employees have on communities.

The Community Engagement Manager will have a unique opportunity build a scalable, region-wide program for existing and new locations. Self-motivation and a deep seated commitment to community stewardship is a must! They should be able to balance implementing multiple high-priority, high visibility projects while simultaneously establishing and maintaining relationships with centers of influence across the entire region.

Core Responsibilities will include
- Identify organizations including nonprofits, school districts, colleges/universities, military groups, and first responder organizations to understand their need, build relationships and collaborate on impactful community projects.
- Draw upon your company-wide perspective and understanding of communities to implement programming on behalf of AWS.
- Work in a highly matrixed organization to manage community events and inspire employees to learn and engage through these events.
- Partner with HR to build on and develop programs that empower employees to engage with our communities.
- Represent AWS publicly in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Draw upon lessons learned from community programs implemented in existing regions to build and adjust for programs you will develop in new regions.
- Capture data to quantify the impact of implemented programs, and share the impact internally and externally.

You have proven ability, willingness, and desire to:
- Write and speak effectively for audiences of varying sizes.
- Provide vision for the entire region’s community engagement initiatives, and manage these initiatives with extreme attention to detail and a high bar for quality.
- Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, human resources, legal, policy, and public relations to deliver results.
- Interact effectively and provide strategic counsel at all levels of the organization.
- Identify opportunities and develop creative, effective approaches to difficult challenges.
- Lead efforts across multiple locations in different timezones.
- Be physically, on-the-ground in locations within your region.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in community relations, PR, communications or equivalent in related field.
- 8+ years relevant experience in community engagement, CSR, or philanthropy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong project management and execution experience.
- Robust sense of accountability and sound professional judgment with the capacity to handle confidential information and escalate issues effectively.
- Ability to travel as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with school districts and college/university leadership to establish collaborative relationships with an organization.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues independently in a rapidly changing environment.
- Experience working in and on behalf of diverse communities with unique challenges and an ability to displaying a high degree of cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Fluent in multiple languages a definite advantage.
